Otherwise this is my justification to get a 10/22. :D

Got dragged to Wally World this morning by the g/f. I managed to wander off to sporting goods, and look for some ammo, with no luck, OF COURSE.

I did however spy a reddot. Just a little Tasco unit, nothing too fancy. I asked to see it, and the guy said that he had only one left in stock. I looked it over and thought "hey... this would be perfect on top of the Old Cooey." I asked him to ring it up. Of course, in my half-asleep bleary eyedness, I negated to realize that a weaver mount just might not fit on my 64B's dovetail. Sure enough, it doesn't.

So now I've been thinking... should I have the top of the receiver (albeit very thin) drilled and tapped for a weaver base, or should I just put the damn Cooey up on the EE and be done with it? I really like the Old Cooey, despite beign a jam-o-matic, and I can't return the red dot anymore.

There is a Weaver adapter base that locks onto a 3/8" tipoff dovetail, and has a Weaver dovetail on top.

Pete read your answer..lolol...who makes it...its a weaver...anyways i did some checking for you and it should be a TO-10 made by weaver. Its supposed to fit to a 3/8 dovetail so that 1 inch rings can be used. Just type in weaver scope mounts on a search and it will come up...

"...despite being a jam-o-matic..." Give it a bath. Mine feeds every kind of ammo I've ever fed it with no fuss.

Dennis is right. You're not helping, Rob.

I've got the gun dealer not-to-be-named sourcing a B-square adapter rail right now, and that just might be the ticket. It's meant for airguns with a dovetail mount, so I think it should work, and it'll be removable ;)

Those tip-off bases don't look like they'd work too well, seeing as this red dot is pretty short, and there aren't any crosscut grooves.

Grizz,

One thing to consider with any 3/8" - Weaver adaptor is that since they fit on the existing dovetail base, they will raise the Tasco somewhat so you may have to lift your head more. May or may not be a problem. I had this problem with a Marstar red dot/circle/cross reflex sight I bought for my 45-70. (Matching the bases is no problem in this case, of course)- it sits too high on the receiver to get a proper cheek weld, something that is pretty important on a gun that bites back.

:) Stuart

This base is supposed to only lift the scope a quarter of a inch and since the .22 doesnt recoil real bad it might just be the ticket grizz is looking for...

Bye the way Pete any good ol square cross cut file on a base and about 5 minutes of work and any scope or sighting device will fit..

#### i will even help ya with the project..

Total non-issue with this project. The whole purpose behind this venture is for a close-range fast acquisition .22 for ranges inside 25m. As long as I can see the dot, and put it on the gopher, I'm happy. I've got a scoped Lakefield and a .22-250 for the precision work. I woulda left well enough alone with the irons, but I can't make them out all that great, and any amount of fudging around with them can't get POA-POI within and inch at 25m.

I'm basically building a non 10-22 Tacticool .22 :D

Why can't you return the tasco and buy one that fits on the dovetail??

You can return anything to WM...

Not sure of your Red Dot tube diameter. I bought a Tasco Red Dot Scope, 1 x 30 from Walmart but it needs weaver bases so it'd be costly to stick it on any of my rimfires with a 11mm or 3/8 dovetail.

I should have just got one of these instead.

I wonder if 30mm Rings 3/8" Dovetail would work?

That's the one I picked up. the 1x30mm. OD is something like 38mm.

I don't have the receipt anymore. And that particular store had a sign saying no returns or exchanges on scopes. I guess the paintballers and airsofters were doing just that. buying a cheap optic, beating the snot out of it for a weekend, then bringing it back after it was totaled.

I'd try it anyway, even without the receipt.
