just kidding :D

Greetings to everyone. This is my first post here so I thought I'd make it a good one. I'll post a welcome message later in the appropriate forum.

I was very excited to read the thread about the GSG-5. I was hoping that since it was first discussed over a month ago that there would be some updated information in the last few pages, but there isn't a whole lot.

So, I thought, "What the hey", and decided to call Blue Line directly.

I had a very pleasant conversation with a gentleman in BC, and while much of the information he gave me isn't concrete, it shows that there is serious progress being made with regard to getting this rifle into Canada.

The rifle exists. A batch was made last month in Germany. He has personally been there and they had performed 10,000 round endurance tests on the GSG-5, supposedly without a jam.

The rifle is still listed as a prohibited firearm in Canada. This was due to somebody in charge looking through an advertisement for the rifle and deciding to ban it based on its looks. Appeals are in progress right now, and while confidence is high that they will succeed, a backup plan is also in play. If the backup plan should be required, a timeline for resolution is not certain. When all is said and done, the rifle should hopefully be non-restricted. A fully functioning demo unit is said to be en-route to the RCMP for analysis.

Blue Line will not be a direct distributor for these rifles to the end user. They will be going through distribution channels and dealers.

Presuming all legal issues are resolved, a shipment of 1,000 units is expected to arrive in Dec 2007. Initial sale of the rifles is expected in Jan 2008.

*** PLEASE NOTE: Prices discussed are only speculative. ***

A hopeful price for final retail sale is in the low to mid $700 range. Many accessories will be available, however I have no information on these. My guess is just to use your imagination for what can be added to these babies!

I hope this information is of use to some of you. The only thing I can suggest now, once more information is available and presuming it's not against this board's rules, is to organise a group buy for CGN members.

My PAL is hopefully just a couple of weeks away. Expect to see a lot more of me on here from now on.

Good first post DM. I need another gun like I need another hole in my head, but I will probably end up getting one.

It's super cool - looks badass and I'd like one.

But... it is just a .22lr and I've got my 10/22CRR with 25rnd mags which is probably the same length and lighter :p

Keeping an eye on this one though :)

For $700 it better have a match trigger and shoot as well as a 10/22 target rifle. Christ for $700 it better give hummers as well...... Ok that was probably over the top, but $700 is a decent amount of change when you can get a very good semi auto .22 for under $500.
Just my thoughts on it.
