I have a bcl 102 and an 18” Ruger gunsite scout. Both in .308.
Which one would be better to set up for distance vs a closer in rifle?
The optics available are a vortex strike eagle 1-8x24
and a vortex viper 2.5-10x40.
Basically I would like to set one up for a blind and the other for more hiking/stalking in close hunting.

Why not use the BCL for both? Quick detach optics and good to go

Get a red dot and use the viper for longer range.

It somewhat depends on what you consider long range and which firearm is more accurate. Based on your post, I would put the 2.5-10 on the BLC for the blind gun since it is pretty heavy and put the 1-8 on the Ruger for hiking/stalking.

That being said, I carry my BCL all over creation and don't find it overly cumbersome. And I find the ergonomics of an AR style firearm to be superior to a bolt gun.

Ya that’s the way I was leaning. I should have clarified the distance....was wanting a rifle for close in to 100m and then one for up to 500m
