Elcan blowout in the US...

Elcan prices coming down from ridiculously overpriced to something a little more manageable has me tempted, but not quite there yet.
There is just too much choice out there for the coin these go for.

It is great to see Elcan products finally offered at prices mere mortals can afford. I just jumped on a 1.5-6x Spectre for $2200 and change (plus tax), and am stoked! I like my 1-4x, so figure the 1-6x will be my new mid-range "go to" optic.

The new sale price is like the old prices from a few years ago

Actually, the current sale prices are several hundred $$ cheaper when you consider that the 1.5-6x used to cost $2600 and change. It is currently offered at $2225, which IIRC is closer to the old price for the 1-4x.

There is a reason for the price increase. Armament Technology was giving the Canadian market a price break, as kind of a thank you to support the Canadian gun community. If you did the conversion with the old pricing you were actually paying less than the US market was. What happened there was 2 Canadian dealers who will remained unnamed and are in fact site sponsors decided to grey market the optics over to Europe and under cut the European dealers. The European dealers complained. Armament Technology asked them nicely to stop it. They did not comply. So Armament Technology jacked the prices up. There is always some Ahole every where to ruin it for others.

Seems to be a trend of site sponsors on here f*cking the general shooting public with their own greed. And no one keeps them in check. I guess as long as the checks keep coming in.

Jut ordered one from go big tactical. Happy to have a Spectre again, lost my last one in a housefire years ago.

Still "grossly" overpriced optics even with the sale

I rarely use the word "amazing" to describe anything but that is exactly what I think of that optic. The only thing I don't like is the mount...

I finally took Greentips advice and ordered a SpecterDR 1-4x last weekend.. at last weekend's prices :/ Fortunately the reseller is working with the distributor to get the current pricing, so I'm hopeful.

Looking forward to trying out a 1*6!

You're the second mentioning a 1.5-6.
Why not get a Specter TR for an extra 20$?
Much more saving, 1x and 9x zoom.
They've been on the market for a few years but never below 2500$. And I can't find any review.

Just compared the specs to the NX8 and I won't go back to Elcan.

I picked up the Spectre 1-4x today with the new-style battery cap (CR2032) and for the life of me I cannot unscrew it. I'm not using a lot of force because I don't want to strip the threads, so maybe there is that.. has anyone had similar issues or have advice?

I have 3 Elcans. fixed x4, 1-4 and 1.5-6.

They all have really good glass, generous eye box and really bad eye relief. IMO TJ ACOG is better.
