Just got a CZ 27 .32acp for a good price and really like it.
Only problem is the slide won’t stay open on the empty magazine.
I’m hoping it’s just a matter of a tired out almost eighty year old mag and I’ve ordered a new one from Triple K.
In case that doesn’t solve the issue does anyone have a competent gunsmith they have had personal experience with on an older milsurp who they’re pretty certain is still in business.
Thanks in advance for any info.

I own several of these, absolutely love them. As you stated, the magazine is what holds the slide back. 90 per cent of the time its the mag. Where u located?

I’ll wait for the new mag first and if that fails will contact Barry.
Have you had work done by him? His reviews are mostly positive.

Have you stripped the slide off and tried inserting the mag..the slide stop should be lifted by the magazine when empty..just to check..have had slide stops that were filed or weak...

I’ll be honest my beliefs about gunsmithing are the same as surgery: best left to professionals. Although I’ve owned for 35 plus years the limit of my competence is field stripping a 1911 and putting it together properly most of the time.

Depending on where you are in bc...Clarence at bumblebee custom would be able to sort you out..in van ..joe dlask love 1911’s.

Well, as someone said, they do have hold open. I forgot, take the slide off and see what the mag does, not hard to do. the mag pushes up the slide stop when the mag is empty, some of these mags are not as good as the gun that is built to high standards.
BTW I had one 20yrs ago I shoot , it had a 380 barrel in it , the proper one, so the registration paper was wrong

Had great work done by him, the only issue is he is so good he is very busy and things take a long time. I actually forgot about Rusty Wood, another great spot. I' betting the mag will do the trick.

New Triple K mag arrived and works perfectly, slide holds open as it should.
Lesson: eighty year old war time production springs wear out.
Also can highly recommend Triple K , mag is first rate and yes shipping is pricey but service was first rate. Ordered Thursday and arrived at my door Monday before noon.
Thanks for the recommendations and I will be contacting Bitsnpieces about some other work I’m interested in.
