Lightweight scope for lightweight rig

I have two Leupold 2.5 - 8 x 36mm VXIII scopes on 2 different rifles. They are clear, light, and tough. I heartily endorse them for a lightweight hunting rig.

Well it looks like PR is having a sale this weekend, no tax, free ship on the Z3, I may need to order one now. Been busy, my Alpine has been sitting in the corner, haven't even thought of it. For a 42mm obj I assume talley mediums would be perfect? Or lows?

Thank you, very informative post regarding the parallax. Probably gonna get the Z3 now, never had a swaro, had lots of leupold and may as well try something new.

Have you looked at the Vortex Razor Light Hunter? I have a the 3-15 model with G4 reticle and its a really nice piece of glass. Super clear, simple reticle and lightweight.

I have a Z3 3-10x42 BRH mounted on my kimber mountain ascent and I'm very happy with it. You won't be disappointed.

I had the 2.5-8 but prefer the vx2 3-9. Fairly light, good tube length for mounting and plenty of eye relief.

As many have said, my choice would be a Leupold VX-3 in 2.5x8x36.

If you are not in a rush you may find one, or a previous version called the Vari-X III, on the EE.

I had the same dilemma as the OP for my latest build, a 6.5CM Kimber Adirondack for long days on foot hunting deer. I bought 3 scopes, the Swaro Z3 3-10x42 BRH (12.5oz), the Z5 3-18x44 (15.7oz) and the Leupold VX3 3-10x40 (12.3oz) with CDS. Any one of these scopes would have served me VERY well, all were bright, sharp and reasonably light. But in the end I chose the Z3. It had the perfect combination of weight, size, features (or lack of) and clarity. Oddly, even though the Z3 is lower in the food chain to the Z5, to my eyes, I felt the Z3 was easier and quicker to get behind and offered a more forgiving eye box and slightly brighter with more low light resolution. Simplicity with the capped turrets, set them and forget them. Nothing to snag on, or get bumped out of adjustment. Final build is 5.8lbs scoped.
