I disagree. Maybe it a cheaper way of doing things for KAC. But the handguard extrusion is machined pretty deep, entirely internally, pretty impressive. And nothing wrong with torquing two parallel surfaces together. There is no screws and wedges and other bits to go missing, and the barrel nut and handguard is one piece and looks sleek as F.
I don't think they are as user friendly to install as 2 peice Handguards, like every other mfg out there, but for their mod2 system it works for them. Not cheap either but I think they are one of the best.
If you can make it work go for it.
