Well the MRR handguard is integrated into the upper receiver as one solid unit so nothing on the market is really "similar" so to speak.
Now the MRR does use Mlock attachment and their are tons of quality options available in that department. Check out the offerings by DD, BCM, Troy, Noveske, KAC. All top shelf product.

Gotcha. Then if thats the case, just look at any Mlok rail made by top shelf companies like I listed. None of the will fail you. Quality isnt cheap but you definitely get what you pay for. Cheers

Take a look at the BCM Mlok rail, it's the same kind of octagonal shape as the MRR and they are very well built.
The Geissele MK14 is another excellent option, but more expensive and has a chunkier attachment method at the back (although IMHO stronger if that makes any difference)

As much as I like KAC stuff, the BCM rail has a much better attachment system. Having to use shim washers to align a handguard isn't the most reasonable way to attach things IMHO. It was a pretty cheap way for them to do the URX4...
and before you say what about flash hiders!!! I like using timing washers better than shims or crush washers

I disagree. Maybe it a cheaper way of doing things for KAC. But the handguard extrusion is machined pretty deep, entirely internally, pretty impressive. And nothing wrong with torquing two parallel surfaces together. There is no screws and wedges and other bits to go missing, and the barrel nut and handguard is one piece and looks sleek as F.
I don't think they are as user friendly to install as 2 peice Handguards, like every other mfg out there, but for their mod2 system it works for them. Not cheap either but I think they are one of the best.
If you can make it work go for it.
The basic concept of attachment of the URX has not changed since day 1. The "new" is actually the same as "old". The reason things can be made the way it is now, ie, much simpler, much lighter and without the "end cap style barrel nut" ( which is now just machined to the inside of the hand guard) , because there is no longer a requirement to attach M203 using the legacy mount while free floating it. In general, the requirement to hang any GL has been pretty much disappeared after the US adopted the HK M320.
A lot of the older hand guards, such as DD RIS2, URX and ARM SIR, are the way they are because they were to free float the barrel while hanging the old M203.
