Hello guys,
I am trying to find some concrete info on the muzzle velocity of the Walther LP53.
Everything I read online says its between 360 FPS to 400 FPS but would like to know for sure.
Any chance it might be in an owners manual?
Thanks in advance

It really depends on what sort of condition the internals are in, and then whether or not you've tuned it. Mine came to me in somewhat rough shape and shooting around 360fps with 7.5gr wadcutters. I think I ran across some forum post suggesting a factory velocity of just under 400fps, but can't recall for certain. 'Clarky' - a member of a UK airgun forum, has done more tuning experimentation than anyone with the LP53 and has achieved almost 500fps with a 7gr pellet. My own isn't quite so speedy, but it's consistently 465fps with 7.56gr H&N Finale Match. Fatter spring. Lots of polishing. Added a few grams to the tophat behind the seal head. Replaced breech seal. Slippery, carefully fitted delrin spring guide on spinning washer base. Still, not an accurate pistol...

...but great fun the shoot. I have two, both mint and boxed - a brown grip and a black grip version. Add to the movie fame and iconic looks the fact that a few years back, somebody paid over a qurter of a million US to own the actual one held by Seán Connery on the movie poster of 'From Russia with love'.

I just got one sight unseen. I did not expect the finish on the barrel to be like this.
Guess the Ballistol it's deceased owner used (Ballistol) acted as a solvent on the paint.
Debating whether it's worth it to repaint. Works fine though.

I have used Balistol on my two LP53s for a few years. It didn't take the finish off. The lack of finish on your LP53 might be the result of something else.

Cleaning the pot metal they used for a barrel sleeve and then spraying it with a few light coats of Rustoleum Appliance Epoxy was my solution, as my LP53 came to me in similar condition. Some people just seem to have very aggressive sweat. I see this too with doublebass players - some teenaged boys, especially, seem to dissolve steel outer windings on strings and leave greasy grey deposits on the strings and fingerboards. I knew one kid long ago who went through a set of $200 strings about ever 3 months this way. He grew out of it. Hormones changed I guess. Anyway, once the paint has had a few days to dry initially, take the dismantled part and hang it with a wire in an oven from an upper rack and bake it. First for half an hour at around 250F, then crank it up to 325 or so for another half hour. Let it cool in the closed oven. The result will be a high gloss and very durable finish. If you want it less shiny just give it a light scrub with 0000 steel wool or an old dish washing scrub pad. There are also VHT brand paints in a wide variety of colours and finish textures, some rated for extreme temperatures. Baking these also helps toughen them. Canadian Tire stocks a good selection.

Pellets used were from black plastic can Umarex Praz Diabolokugeln 4.5mm round nose at 8.2gr.

German Laws call out a pretty low energy rating for Air Pistols. It's not very much Velocity, in any case. I wanna say somewhere around 4 foot pounds.

I have the mortal remains of two LP3 pistols (Single stroke pneumatic version). I can say with some authority, that you need big bloody hands to fit them!

Which is kind of funny, considering that 6fpe is permitted for air pistols in the UK where there is zero tolerance for any civilian use of firearm pistols. Even their Olympic firearm pistol squad has to go to France to practice. And the UK allows 12fpe for air rifles without a license. So much more sensible than Canada's limit there, as it's a rating sufficient for pest management but still low enough that it's unlikely to kill a human, usually.
