I'm an old fart, and for the most part a traditionalist, however I think that I would like to try a Go Pro video camera. Can someone educate me on their experience with them. I'm off again, scouting for my mule buck for this November rifle season, will catch-up to this thread later. Thanks!

I love them. It’s probably the most used piece of camera gear I have in my gear bag. I use mine on my drone, on my ATVs, bikes, bring it camping, on vacation to use underwater. It’s a great little tool and the technology in the new ones are amazing. If you’re worried about the fisheye look that can be changed either in camera or you can do it in post through a couple programs.
No, they’re not. Hunting subjects cameras to a lot of abuse and that’s where GPs shine. You’re not 6 OP, you don’t need a starter unit. You want a good camera to work when you need it to and hold up to the rigours of being in the field.
Considering what everything else costs, might as well pony up and get the right gear from the start.

So i read this and wonder? is it a Go Pro you want, or a Trail Cam?
Either way, they both capture great shots.
Con's for the go-pro. two, (or 3,) buttons to navigate all the options. Finding a chart to map out the button sequence to change the resolution from 4K to 720p (for memory saving,) was difficult. but they are becoming more intuitive. that being said, you can radio connect it to your phone and navigate menus that way, if.... you can connect it to your phone.
I have yet to set up a Trail cam but i'm of the impression you can set them up with a motion sensor and that means every time, the first picture is of your own goofy face looking at it asking yourself "is this thing on?"
