I heard there is a 500m range in P.A Sask. Can anybody tell me details. Membership, pictures? I've been a member at the SWF for 2 years but I want to shoot farther someday.

Also what does it take to go to the Nokomis range. I am not capable of 1000 yards, but I'd like to see what its like. Maybe I could tag along with somebody from here in Saskatoon area sometime.

The SPRA (Nokomis) is have their provincials on the 20,21,22.
You could come out Saturday and shoot 300 to 600 I'm positive of that based on your avatar
regardless of your bullet or scope and then step back to 800 or further if you have the bullet/scope capable of the task after Sat. day's matches....
With the right bullet (high BC) you don't need a lot of elevation.

There is a remnant military range in PA. I heard about it when I was shooting with the SPRA in the '90's. They had made inroads with the local PA black powder shooters and had talked about partnering for a long range. But there were some egos and uncertainties with the deal.

When I was researching to design Nokomis, I heard anecdotly that the PA range has/had old-fashioned concrete butts, firing points and a stop butt. I may have seen the drawings that were held by the Construction Engineering staff at CFB Moose Jaw with Mr. Kim Junek (Junik?). Don't remember which I looked at; there were many sheets on the tables. However, it was a WWII facility that had been abandoned and apparently was heavily grown-over or partially demolished.

Now, if you have a varmint rifle or an antelope rifle you have an F class rifle. Don't dismiss Nokomis without testing yourself. Just like weightlifting, don't let the numbers freak you out. Seeing the target go down after firing a shot a thousand yards is very satisfying.

Prince Albert has great facilities....500m sillywet range(paper targets too), handgun range, trap, skeet, muzzleloading sillywet range....you need a key to get in......membership $50/year...if anyone wants to check it out, contact(pm) me
