Odd Looking Yugo M 48 Mauser

Last year when we imported our lot of M48 and M48A Yugo Mausers there was 5 rifles like this in the lot. Looks like a standard M48 with longer barrel and added rubber butt pad all off them had the pad reinforced with green tape all same style. Anyone may be saw conversion like this before? All rifles came from Serbia

I would say the bayonet lug is kind of useless, unless you have a bayonet with a really long handle.

How long is the barrel? Perhaps Gewehr 98 barrels they had in warehouses were used on a very small scale basis.

That's a G98 barrel at least, you can see the step in it. I know the yugos exported some G98 reworks at some point, perhaps some were fitted into 48 stocks or just rebarreled as trainman said more likely

Interesting pieces. To late for me it seems..

They seem somewhat impractical except as target rifles compared to the other models but still neat. Looking forward to cleaning the m48 I bought a few months after the moose hunt.
