Hi all,

I recently picked up some CZ mags from Corwin Arms for my NZ85B. However, they dont quite fit... The mag doesn't seem to click in properly (can just rip the mag out of the bottom without hitting mag release).

When further inspected, it appears that the mag release button does not fully return to the original position when a mag is inserted, and is slightly protruding. Does anyone else have this issue? I assume I need to slightly file the mag catch on the magazine slightly (seems to need a little more room on the medial aspect of the mag).

Figured I'd ask before I do something I cant fix.

I had the same issue with fab defense magazines:

Look at the front of the magazine at the locking lip/lug you'll see a vertical notch. This notch may require some filing depending on the origin of the magazine or the absence of this recessed notch in the receiver in certain rifle model.

I'll post pictures later

Fab Defense makes CZ 75 magazines?

I'd start with comparing the notch on the mags that do seat and lock correctly with your new mags. It may be that the slot is not placed exactly right along the length of the mag or it may be that the slot is just a hair too narrow to let the catch drop into the notch fully. A set of calipers or a really good fine lined ruler and good eyeballs should aid in figuring things out.

Also check to see if it's only an issue with a fully loaded mag vs empty. It could be that the follower is bottoming out and won't let you push in the fully loaded mag quite all the way.

For that matter check to see if the clearance step in the upper opening of the mag's outer wall is hitting the slide lock finger and jamming the mag. If it is that could also stop the mag from seating correctly and letting the catch seat correctly. An easy way to check for that is to strip off the top end and try to seat the mags and see if the mag catch seats correctly or not. Then put the top end back on and check again. Then look for a shiny rub mark on the cutout for the slide release finger.

If nothing else stripping the top end and inserting both known good mags and the new ones will tell you if the new ones are trying to seat low, high or just right. And if it's just the notch itself which side or both sides to slightly open up.

Thanks all for your responses. Ill get a set of calipers before I start the filing. And when I load the gun with snap caps, it will load one round in and the mag pops out by itself (which I assume is because its not actually seated in the notch that holds the mag in).

My NP40 originally spat its mags during shooting. The catch had to be modified in order to protrude deeper in the frame.
