Wildcat?

.284 shehanve is a .284 Winchester with a slightly less tapered case. .22-.284 is a .284 win necked to .22 caliber. Shehane is apparently 180gr to 3000 and .22 is 80gr to over 4000. Relative popularity would be approximately 0% due to the wildcat nature of the rounds.

Had a 22-284. Fun gun to shoot but sold it because I never used it. I would of never seen 4000 fps with 80 grainers. My load did shoot 80 gr Bergers at 3550-3600 fps though. Very accurate round. Out of a 27" #4 fluted BRUX.

still up there in speed....to my understanding this is one unit that burns barrels up fast

The 284 Shehane would mostly be used for F-Class, using a 30" barrel and a long action. Velocity would be around 3000 fps with 180 gr bergers. For hunting the 284 win cartridge lends itself well to a light weight hunting rifle, I would want a short action with no less than a 22" barrel, i prefer 24" and would probably get 3000 - 3100 fps with 140 gr bullets. I don't think the Shehane would have much of an advantage over the original 284 win.
