What is the best First World main battle rifle?

Patton called the M1 the finest implement of battle because he did not live to see the FAL.

H&K made a 5.56 version of the G3, the HK33. In the 80s, they made a STANAG-compliant version with an M16A1-based forward assist and bolt hold open and an FAL-based carry handle, the G41. I think they should put it into production and the German army should adopt it to replace the G36.
