Just finished my SLR build today, hope to use it for deer season!

ODIN Works 20" stainless barrel, 6.5 Grendel
15" Lightweight Keymod Handguard from True North Arms
Ejection port dust cover kit from TNA (should have gone for the one engraved with the Canadian flag :()
TNA Bolt Carrier Group (6.5 Grendel)
Superlative Arms Adjustable Bleed Off Gas Block (.750)
TNA Lower Parts Kit
ALG Defense Advanced Combat Trigger
Magpul ACS-L buttstock
Magpul MOE K2+ grip
TNA buffer tube kit (tube, spring and buffer)
Phase5 charging handle

Don't have an optic on it yet. Debating on whether to use my Trijicon 1-4x24 Accupoint or my Trijicon MRO. Distances we hunt around here rarely call for shots further than about 100m so either should be OK, with the MRO of course being lighter.
Made up 25 rounds of 6.5 Grendel using 120gr Nosler Ballistic tip hunting bullets, plan to try it out this weekend to see how it performs.

Observations:

Many of the openings are "tight", didn't have to sand or file any, but it took a bit of patience to get some parts to fit. I should probably have tried to open up the safety selector detent hole a bit, the detent pin binds a little in there. Maybe in the future, because it works ok for now.
Anodizing (from True North Arms - I believe they get the receivers bare, and have their own contacts anodize them?) was perfect. Any blemishes that appear on the final product are the result of my less than polished assembly skills using pin punches.

Nice build. Is the barrel fluted? What are you weighing in at? How are your mags seating and do they drop free?

Looks awesome. Ive almost finished my SLR Hunting build in 6x45mm, I will post some pictures when I figure out how to....

The build was a PITA from the start, extremely tight, especially the safety and bolt catch, also had to modify my Odin works handguard to fit. The only mag that works in mine is the Pmag, the steel mags I have wont seat.....but I can see where they are making contact with the upper......will need to fire up the dremmel....

The barrel isn't fluted, it's just the light reflecting off it that makes it look a little like it is.
Haven't weighed it - I don't have a working scale right now (hmm maybe I should change the batteries in that scale and weigh it!)
I have two types of magazines for it - some ASC 6.5 grendel mags, which do bind a little so that they don't drop free, and some Robinson Arms XCR-L Micro Pistol mags in 7.62x39 (which also fit 6.5 Grendel) which do drop free. The binding seems to be on the upper, because when the mags are inserted into just the lower (with no upper attached) they all drop free.
I suppose I could find the area they're binding on, and sand it down a bit, but because I'll use it for hunting, I'm not so worried about having to deliberately pull the magazine out when I'm done. If this was a competition gun (3-gun, etc) I'd work at fixing it.

Nice. I'm curious to see how it shoots, I have the same barrel. I haven't been able to shoot it as much as I should have by now, but the 120 Ballistic Tips have shown the greatest promise so far.

Ok, got it out to test fire it today! Only put 15 rounds through it, had limited time available. First 10 rounds were at 25m, just to get on paper, and to adjust the gas block for proper functioning.

5 rounds at 100m next, with these results

Not Precision Rifle territory, for sure, but not bad for the first 100m five-shot group from a new build, using an Eotech XPS2 non-magnified optic, with no bipod or bag, just kinda bracing myself on the tailgate of my truck :p
Definitely "minute of deer" anyway. Hope to load up some more rounds, and get time for a more formal shooting session within the next week or two, to see if I can tighten that group up a bit.
And yes, I got out there and realized I had no staples in my stapler, so I had to resort to duct taping the target to my backer.

Ok just finished a day at the range to put an 18.6” Stainless .277 Wolverine deer rifle through its paces. Shot 120 gn Sierra out of Starline factory brass with great 100 yard results. This is a 5 round group that was equally timed between trigger pulls to ensure uniform barrel temps.

Considering it doesn't sound like you did any load development yet I'd say that group is quite respectable. I'm sure it will tighten right up when you find the velocity that barrel likes those projectiles to leave at.

Nice group Sqr. The only problem with it is, you won't have any excuses if you miss. How many rounds do you have through your rifle now?

The round count through this particular new rifle is around 60 with close to a thousand through my FDE .223 Wylde. I had a few short stroking cycling issues with a couple of loads which cut my day short or I would have stayed longer.
