The new Tikka T1X Rimfire

Just got a call from The Gun Dealer in NB, my T1x 20" 22 is in!!!! Christmas present though so I still won't see it for a couple months...

Well that’s frustrating. I placed my pre-order with Wolverine because of the volume they sell and generally speaking, they seem to be very professional. While I like the Gun Dealer and they are local, my pat experience with purchasing items that they don’t actually have on hand has been very hit or miss. Time to support a local business again.

I’ve gotten repeatable hits at over 300 yards on a 8-10” circle target. Now guys like the vudoo 22 rifle shoots are shooting at 500 up to 700 lol which is silly

Ya I can’t believe I ordered a vudoo rifle. Stupid to pay that much for a rimfire

Not at all. I would rather pay big money for something that is cheap to feed than the other way around. Besides, if you enjoy it, that is all that matters. I know people who go to Mexico 2x per year and disparage me for having a few guns that I can enjoy 365 days a year. I simply tell them that shooting is my vacation....

for some reason non gun people just don't get it.

It has nothing to do with tolerance... such a terrible word. Acceptance is the proper word. I think spending 5 k for a Mexican Holiday is a waste of $$$ especially when you go to the same place all the time, but thats just me. But I Accept the fact that it works for them.

I’ve done 300m as well with decent results but beyond that is fairly hopeless.

When discussing successful shooting with a .22LR at 300 yards, it might be useful for readers to keep in mind that at that range the bullet drop is over ten feet with HV ammo, considerably more with SV ammo. Very good match ammo can have an ES of 30 fps. A small MV difference of 10 fps at 200 yards results in a vertical spread of one inch. Put it all together, no matter what, luck (or more than a few shots) plays the overriding factor if a shooter with a .22LR hits anything smaller than a breadbox at 300 yards.

Ya man when you put it that way then it’s not as crazy. A rimfire is cheap to feed compare to a 308 or even a 223. A vacation especially in the same spot for 5000$ each time is a lot of money that you have nothing to show for after. A gun can be a lifetime enjoyment once its bought

I like to stretch my 22’s out for fun. I may try 500 yards for the heck of it but at that distance it’s severely Inconsistent. A larger steel plate may still work tho at that distance. I think so anyway. I like to stretch the legs of my firearms lol

Nothing wrong with practice at long range. There was a comparison posted somewhere that compared 308@1000 to .22lr @ 300 as a good F class trainer. The ballistics scale for drift and drop is similar.

And don't feel bad, I am drooling over the Walther and Annie Aluminum chassis guns for a while now.
