To shoot or not to shoot, that is the question...

Just how does one remove a 'live' primer from a case?

You can push them out with a univeral decapping die, or just a sizing die screwed out a few turns.

One assumes you'll go easy on the decapping. I've done a good number this way, no problem. Worst case, it goes off and makes a loud noise - so wear your eyes and maybe ears.

If you have "no experience with reloading" and don't plan on starting, then either take the cases to a friend who does, or just break them down and dispose of them.
Once the powder has been removed, you can just fire the primers off in your rifle. Don't forget to clean it afterwards, primers tend to be very dirty.

I bought this Hornady cam-lock bullet puller from Cabelas. I am very pleased with it. It barely but a mark on the bullets I pulled with it.

I can NOT believe I don't have one of those. Thanks for the heads up.

Do not shoot unkown relaods.

Hiyas, years and years ago when I knew nothing and this website didn't exist, I bought some dirty old .308 "boolats" at a gun show. Recently while doing some clean up, they re-surfaced! Now that I know a little more about the subject, I'm not so sure I want to shoot them! But would consider shooting them at a close range target really fast :evil:They're definatly reloads, they're all rusty and gunky and stuff. I have no idea what grain bullets are on there. Are they safe to shoot? Here's a few pics: Let me know what you guys think! Thanks!

It is obviously unanimous and I am also in agreement. Do not fire them, they are unknown relaods. You have no idea as to who, what, where and when and therefore, it can be dangerous.

Dispose of them in a safe and proper manner, and if you are unable or unequipped to do so, feel free to send me a PM. Since we are both in Montreal it would probably be relatively easy to get together and I can dispose of them for you.

Regards
Robert
