The new Tikka T1X Rimfire

FWIW the serial number of my T1x is N36###

Thats a lot of Tikkas considering many, myself included havent received theirs. Im guessing this includes the .17 HMR ones?

I think that unlike some semi-auto centerfire releases, the T1X is probably also really popular in Europe and Australia.

I have no idea how they do their numbering, but I've been following FB groups in AUS and Europe and they all seem to be in the same situation waiting excitedly

I got my call from Wolverine yesterday for the 20 inch, 22lr but only a limited number arrived. I’ve seen nothing yet from the states of them arriving there yet

My trigger finger is getting fat because of lack of use. In all honestly I just want to see if it con compete with my cz 452 style
Like everyone else a bit frustrated to see that lack of organization in distribution
It would have been nice to fill the preordered ones first but ah well

I think everybody should quit with the preorder and wait for them to start coming in. My 16” T1x is here today. I don’t need another rimfire I have way too many. Most likely gonna be for sale this week

Out of curiosity, why is there so much more interest in the 20" barrels? Is it based on performance? Aesthetics?

16 inch is designed to balance when one screws a can on the end of the barrel, something we're not allowed to do in canada, I really wish the barrel wasn't threaded for one either, all it does is spread salt in the wounds of how stupid canadian laws are.
Sadly 2 retailers in canada have got their hands on the 20 inch models and they are both supporting dealers I refuse to support because of how they handle themselves within the online forums.....so I sits and I waits..........and waits some more

I’m with you Dave, also I know the whole velocity story for sure but to me isn’t it kinda funny that almost every long range gun designed for Acuracy seems to have a longer barrel. There must be something to that. Or maybe it is just balance which for what I’m using it for which is off hand is one of the key elements of accuracy.

These are just opinions. Of course

rimfire is neat, there is only so much powder in the case, velocity maxes out around 14 inches of barrel, after that the barrel actually adds friction and with no more burning gases creating pressure to push that bullet it actually starts to slow down the bullet.....28 inch barrels shoot slower then 16 inch barrels for this reason, however, when shooting open sights a longer sight picture provides a much more accurate target sighting, not required with a scope, but for balance it is a must, but the same thing could be achieved with a 14 inch barrel and a 2 foot bloop tube on the front..........but it looks like a rainbow crosswalk.......

I think its going to be worth the wait. Im really looking forward to not having to replace (probably?) the trigger.

Altought the distribution situation has been a fiasco so far.

Although I got the 20in version, 16 in barrels can look nice on tactical precision rifles. I saw what I think was a 16in rem 700 once. Nice gun.

it's got that factory Tikka trigger, it's going to need the spring treatment, the only fiasco of this whole thing is slipping last year that it was coming out this year, topped to that retailers holding presales to keep their hydro bills paid while everyone sits tight on their money waiting to see how far under the bus the liberals are prepared to throw us.......I've curbed my spending on everything except for consumables, for me this will be the first firearm purchase since the idiots voted in the idiot......

There is, the longer heavy barrels will stabilize and calm the bullet, (for target shooting)...

Got my tikka t1 in. Barrel is super short. Stock feels like a cheapened tikka stock. Needs a rubber butt pad to look less cheap. Action is very nice and the bolt is not cast metal like I thought. It is indeed stainless steel and very nicely machined. 20” barrel will look much more classy but if I had a muzzle break just to lengthen it a tad it will look nicer. Maybe find a laminate stock somewhere would help. Dry fired using dummy rounds. TrIgger is incredible for this rifle. If ya want it lighter swap out the spring. It’s a super short travel and very crisp break at the sear. Nobody should need or want to swap the triggers on these. I have kidd and diamond triggers so I’m not over exaggerating here lol

Took my tikka 20” out today! About 300 rounds through it, cci sub/hollow. Cci SV and some federal target. I clamped on my 2-7x scope because it was set in the dovetail rings already, from my cz452. I also borrowed the bigger forend, more vertical angled grip and rubber butt pad and spacers from my ctr. Harris bipod up front and a truck blanket to support the rear.

How did it preform? It exceeded my expectations actually. Even with bad shifting wind, underpowered scope and average ammo I was able to shoot about 5 (5shot) groups that were about 1/2” or under and 20 (5 shot)groups that were around the 5/8”-7/8”mark. (50 yards give or take) Maybe 2-3 groups were opened up slightly, but as I said the wind was all over. I was out for more of a plinking session also so I was rushing a lot of shots.
Really easy to shoot well. Great silky smooth bolt throw,(short bolt lift as well) flawless extraction, solid primer strikes. 2 rough feeds from the mag but it was a pretty waxy batch of cci. No issues with the plastic magazine, And the trigger was really great.
I’m looking forward to putting some of my better ammo through it and mounting a more powerful scope.
I’ll put it head to to head with my cz452 and dlask customs next time I’m out.
I’d like to see a nice pic rail for this thing also asap.
