i recently purchased a savage mk ii that is drilled and tapped for a scope

so what do i need to take into consideration before buying bases, rings and a scope?

does the combination of mounts and rings depend on the scope i want?

Thanks

1. Buy bases bases that fit your rifle (assuming you're going with two piece rings/bases)

2. Buy rings that fit your scope (1", 30mm,etc) and that are high enough to allow the objective bell to clear the barrel/sights.

Savage has a few quality control issues with their rimfire line. The holes are not always centred on the top of the receiver so be prepared to buy the rings for which both front and rear have lateral adjustments. But, if they are centred, there are many options available. Choose your optic first though, then go on the hunt for mounts.

You may want to align and lap the rings..will help with any QC issues with the mounting holes.
