The new Tikka T1X Rimfire

It sucks that some of the preorder folks have had to wait. You would think those orders with retailers would have been filled first. Any other backorder usually works that way. I won't look a gift horse in the mouth though, mine will arrive on friday

So a friend picked up one of these and brought it over to show off, we pulled the Area 419 30 MOA picatinny rail off my CZ452 varmint and I think with a little work it may go on there. The cut out for the ejection port is almost perfect, but I think the profile on the dovetail rail on the receivers is a little different. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? I have one of the new Tikka T1X coming next week and I would really like to get it shooting right away. And we pulled my CTR barrelled action out of the McMillan A3 and dropped the rimfire in, it was a pretty good fit with two very minor issues, 1. the bolt stop on the T1X is a bit further forward and there will need to be a tiny bit of relief work done to allow it to function properly and 2. the T1X bottom metal has a small plastic pillar or tit right by the rear action screw hole that we will either drill the stock to allow clearance, or just cut it off the bottom metal--I don't see a purpose for it so this might be the easiest and quickest solution.

Here is the link to the steel rail I found on the inter web...

How similar is the barrel profile of the ctr to the t1x? Im thinking of getting. A B&C stock made for the CTR.

Thanks.

When I was talking to Wolverine about my 20 inch , 22lr(getting my address correct, it’s in the mail, whee) I asked about a rail . The gentlemen pulled one off the shelf and tried it, no joy.

My CTR has a Benchmark barrel so the profile is different than the factory barrel, but it does have a very similar profile to the factory barrel. Having said that, there was definitely a LOT of room for the T1X barrel in the McMillan stock.

What brand or rifle was that rail meant for? I think so minor mods to the Area 419 rail will get it on there. The rail I found in the link above is 0 MOA so no good for much beyond 150 metres.

The CTR magwell is different than all other Tikkas, I think you'd a regular Tikka stock and I've read there's minor fitting with that too... be careful. But if you do get the CTR B&C please verify the colour with me first and I'll buy it, reduced price of course ;-)

CTR bottom metal is a little wider to accommodate the wide and short ten round mags, action screw hole spacing is the same. The T1X bottom metal fit, it is a bit narrow, but all that means is there is a slight gap on both sides, in my eyes that is not an issue for me.

There are pictures of the T1X in the ctr stock on the snipershide t1x thread. It looks functional but lacks elegance and cohesion. I am sure there will be an aftermarket floorplate for t1x/ctr in the future.

hey all I see that people have bin getting there guns 16 "and 20" 22rf so I'm trying to find out who you bought them trough and how long you have bin waiting . Also people have bin walking in off the street and buying them good for them but preorders are still waiting .Why wouldn't we get ours first this only pisses me off and leaves a bad taste for the product and there distribution system . Will not do it again Slipp

We still have a couple 16" 22lr rifles left.
Distribution on these rifles was a little rough. They have trickled in to dealers, so we did not receive all we ordered. Since some dealers did not do pre orders (ourselves included), all rifles that came in were available for sale.

Well I find that this is a system that sets itself up for confusion and bad feelings towards the establishment that presold . So who's bright idea was this was it the vendor or the distributor .

Better Cg, thicker everywhere, real buttpad, wider forend.

The Varmint stock felt Awful with the HB .204 in it. With the .22, it feels like it should have come this way from the factory, and will only feel better whence the glass is chosen and fitted.

Nice!

What’s with that cup that is inside of the T1x stock? It’s screwed down in the barrel channel back near the receiver end. It prevents a free float all the way back to receiver. I took mine out and now it’s free-floated all the way back.

That looks like a damper of sorts. Not sure why it would be added.... perhaps as a weather blocker for moisture ingress to the magwell?
