plinking ammo ( looking for bulk but decent quality )

Cci standard velocity is my “go to” ammo. It’s clean, accurate and cheap. Tenda Canada has a 5000rd case on sale right now for $339.99 with free shipping.
 
I buy the dreaded bucket o bullets. 1400 remington golden bullet 36 grain 1280 ish fps. Usually a shade under $100 for 1400. They perform well in everything I own. Mossberg semi-auto gets fussy with them when in 25 round magazines, but functions well out of 10 round magazines, so I blame the magazines not the ammo.
I find that CCI mini mags have a waxy coating that gums things up too much.
 
I came across Federal Black box ammo on the weekend at Bullseye in London ON. It comes in a mini cardboard case of 1600 rounds for $95. The mini case holds 50 round boxes with clear plastic ammo holder/separators. I figured at 6 cents a round before tax I would at least try a mini case. The ammo is 36 grain copper plated hollow point.They had over 500 cases so I think it is new packaging as I have never seen this before. It is also sold by SFRC, a site sponsor that often has sales or free shipping as well as Cabelas.

I put 200 rounds through my GSG 1911 with no problems and good accuracy with a fairly clean barrel after. I put 150 rounds through my CZ 522 Varmint and it seem a little stiff chambering but fired cleanly with very satisfactory accuracy at 50 m. I had a buddy try it in his Savage and he was very please with it as well. I would definitely buy more and will stock up with this in the future. I had been buying Ferderal blue box 525 bulk but this is cheaper and cleaner!

As I post this, Cabelas.ca has some .22 on sale, tonight only. M22 is $76.50/1000, $63.69/800. Federal Champion is 33.99/525 ( I have shot a couple cases of this and would recommend it all day long), Stingers are $7.59/50, choot 'em mini-mag are $33.99/300(not a great price, I use $10/100 as a buy threshold for mini-mags. If you are patient it's less sometimes) and mini-mags are $10.19/100.

If you live close to a cabela's you can have them shipped to the store for free and they have a free shipping code on the website. Be careful, some times the free shipping codes don't apply to ammo.
 
CCI Standard or mini mags. Stingers to for my Lakefield model 64b. My cooey model 60 doesn't care. Shoots just about anything well.
Priceing, I'm not sure. Haven't bought 22 ammo in a while. CCI's shoot pretty clean. A lot less fouling. Remington Cyclones and Winchester Wildcats dirty up my Mossy Semi pretty quick and needs to be cleaned after about 200 rounds of shooting.

I'm on my 2nd case of this and have had no issues with it at all. Mostly using it in my S&W Victory pistol, but have shot it from my Mossberg Plinkster as well.
 
I've stopped buying .22lr ammo packaged in a container allowing them to rattle around loosely. Can't be good for QC. If the shells don't sit in trays I pass.
My bolts like both CCI Blazer (for general plinking) and CCI SV for more consistent accuracy. CCI SV at under 7cents/rnd is hard to beat......
 
The Federal Champion 525 has become my go to .22 rd for my Buck mark Pistol and rifle. However, different .22's often prefer different brands so your best bet is to buy small quantities of a variety of ammo and see what your marlin likes best.
 
When I was first interested in buying several of the CZ 452 models Iwas an avid fan of Rimfire Central, and the general concensus at the time was that many fellas thought for the money the 38gr HP American Eagle was the best all around good shooting ammo. So off to wholesale I went looking for some cases of this product,$135 for a case of 4000. 8 cases fit perfectly on their wheeler.
Then I learned about the Paco tool an accurizer with a Hollow point enlarger and i paco'd many thousands of these AE rounds, the enlarged HP makes for some outstanding performance on anything the bullet happens to hit, mostly gophers. Still have a few bricks left from that big buy all those years ago, and still Paco tool each one. my other old favorite was Winchester Dynapoints, Walmart special $9.95 a brick.
The American Eagle 40gr solids is also nice accurate ammo in my CZ 452 rifles as well as my Zastava 22.....FS
 
Hi all - I have a Savage 64 that shoots best with Federal Gold Medal and Fed-Champion for target aacuracy. For general plinking I use Fed Auto-match ($20/325rnds). This weekend Bass-Pro has Fed 'Black Pack' 1600 rnd bulk for $79.99+ tx with a $20 rebate - someday :(P - That works out to $4.50 / 100 after tax and rebate. * prices may be different across Canada, I've noticed other forums that have super deals that I never get out here in NB. I've got about 1500 rnds of various brands (mostly Fed A-M) but i may pick up this sale. Nothing better priced around here for a couple years. CCI-SV runs $8.99/100 here and that's also good for targets for my 64. ps- Walmarts around here are reducing their ammo brands and have removed all guns. C-t still has a good selection of both, but their prices are 10%+ higher than others. I have a LGS that has competitive pricing and weapon stock rivaling BP & Cabellas. The local Cabellas closed a couple months after I moved here:( and the Halifax store was merged with BP and only carries a few Cab items. It was being built when BP bought them out:(

Sterling Cross from CanAm has been very good. It’s a little dirty, the reliability is mediocre, but the accuracy is very good.

Cheap bulk .22 shells that consistently drop right in the crosshairs, what’s not to love?
 
Every rifle is a bit different. Just did some test firing at the range yesterday with my CZ 455 and shot 10 different rim fire rounds from Winchester wild cat to Eley Force and Federal Gold Medal Match. Surprising the best budget 22lr in my rifle turned out to be Winchester 555 and it groups consistently groups .75” at 50 yards. Federal Maerican Eagle was also under one inch but got beaten by 555. Too bad because I stocked up on 8 boxes of Federal 525 and that groups at 1.75-2” at 50 yards.
