EESA Drama Daze II Level III open for signup

wow I guess a lone voice in the crowd can make a difference.... along with EMT... that each club can offer.... I think IPSC Ontario should get a VISA merchant account and collect fees for each match and then submit the payment minus fees to the clubs... the club would charge 2x the fees... say visa charges 4% then the club would charge 8% and IPSC ontario would pay VISA the 4% and keep 4% for collecting fees.... I think wolf did that for 2006 Provincials don'tknow if there was any takers but it's an option for those without EMT at their banks

...dunno, my CU doesn't have it.

like I said .... for those WHO DO... isn't it a nice option to have?? The point of having a prepay is to cut down on "no shows" or booking a spot just to book it incase you might be free in september...and if you do and don't withdraw before withdrawl date ( if there is one) or without notification you lose your payment... makes sense... pretty simple... I can't see it as an option for level I's but because of limited space for level II's or greater in Ontario it's a great idea to have prepay...

Obviously you've never been a vendor before. It's not that rosey.

what about refunds?
what about chargebacks? (People who prepar, adn don't show up, then refute the charges)
what about expired cards?
what about getting your account "frozen" due to too many chargebacks?
what about all the extra accounting that needs to be done (and I'm sure it's a volenteer that's doing it)

Why should IPSC ontario assume all the risk and hassle for something that the clubs are already doing??

Nice idea, but in reality it's not the best option.

My beef with the 'prepay' is that it virtually removes the option of withdrawing from a match without the hassle of refunds.

yeah, but that's a match organization decision, nothing to do with the signup system itself... The system just lets MDs track payments for matches which are pre-payment, it doesn't make matches pre-payment...

Every level 3 that I can remember has been pre-payment needed, regardless HOW the payment made its way to the MD... By offering a way of tracking/etc those payment, we're trying to make it possible to use the online signup system for those bigger matches, that's all...

it's like the issue of people signing up months ahead of a match - it's up to the MDs to allow/disallow signup, regardless whether they do it manually, via email, or via ipsc-matches.net - this system doesn't make decisions for MDs, it simply facilitates the implementation of their decisions...

Changed my mind...just not worth it - :bangHead: :runaway:

:bigHug: :)

It was just an idea... obviously if it wasn't a good one it wouldn't happen... prepayment is still a great idea... I hope MD's will jump on the bandwagon of EMT or other electronic payment method for ease of submitting fees.... and just because your CU doesn't offer EMT doesn't make this a bad idea... I don't use cheques and EMT's or any form of electronic payment would be great for people like me....

hey don't get me wrong.. if I had access to EMT's I'd use them 99% over any other form of money transfer.. I was just pointing out that not everyone has access to them (as someone had mentioned that they did) nor is accepting visa an easy option for the club as well.

The access to a "pre-payment" in the line match booking is good, and seems to work (haven't tried it myself, but the concept seems sound)

For those who do not have EMT I have been "unlocking" their accounts ahead of time..........as I trust them to get a cheque in the mail before the match.

As to Why have prepay?

Well two reasons really.

1) it provides much needed funding up front to offset hard costs

2) it hopefully will reduce no shows which is/has been a problem.

I don't remember the last time I didn't have to prepay for a Level 3

If it wasn't EMT...it would still be "Cheque in the mail"

EMT just speeds it up for those that can take advantage of it.
