300wsm, 178gr ELD-X bullet load needed

Looking for some reloading data for a 300wsm using the 178 Hornady ELD-X bullet.
Hoping to use H4350 or H1000 if possible.

I have found a good load with 178 eld-x and H4350 61.3g
There is still room to go and I would say this is a medium load
I was getting better results with Barnes TSX 168 but the cost was high doing load development

I am just loading at SAMMI max length. I have a Remington and the throat is very long so I can't run to lands

It's not the ELD X but my 180 grain load for the 300 WSM is 61 grains of H4350. That's below maximum in most books, but the pressure and speed are both there. Just thought I'd mention that, don't count on being able to load book maxes.


Try the ELD X lightly against the lands. What that COL in your rifle would be is anyone's guess.

64 grs of h4350 and 178 ELD-X gives cloverleaf 3 shot groups from my SS 300wsm Tikka Varmint rifle.

Thanks everyone. I loaded them 0.030 off the lands which is pretty much the max length that'll fit in my mag box.

Going to try a ladder test with loads from 61.8 - 64.4gr of H4350 in 0.2gr increments.

H1000 would not be a good choice in the WSM
