I chose 308 win but if I was mainly shooting long range I’d have chosen 6.5
planning to go 308 as well. Has anyone tried to go with a wildcat or something bigger?
i was thinking the same (going for 338).
I built mine in .308. It is pretty hard to beat .308 in a semi auto. I am planning on using the stag for general fun shooting and stretching out to 600 ish yards. I am now saving up for a Tikka T3x CTR or a savage 110 Tactical in 6.5 creedmoor for going 600-1200 yards. Have to say my stag is my new favourite firearm, I even deal with the extra weight and take it hunting.
I have McGowen barrels, but Maple Ridge is going to be coming out with them soon.
Why not shoot the Stag long range?
Oh I know I could but I don’t want to add even more weight to a rifle I want to haul around with a long range scope (yes I know you can shoot to 1000 plus with a 10x but it’s a hobby so I would use something better). I would just rather have the stag for moderate range and fun where it would shine like a diamond and then let a dedicated target bolt gun do what they were built for and print as small groups as possible as far as possible.
