The restoration of Kettenkrad 116714

Don't let that slow you down. Wartime welders were sometimes not all that good. Speed over quality with bubble gum splatters. Lots of slag to chip of after 70 years. Being a crappy welder just make the resto more authentic!!

Very true, especially so for German wartime production using forced (slave) labour.

Can't believe I missed this thread! Amazing work OP and wondering how the Kett is coming along / or done and running?

Part of that was probably subtle sabotage. The reason for the crap welding here was more because 18 year old girls were handed an arc welder and told to have at it. That is except Veronica Foster. Her welding (and everything else about her) was spot on.

Considering the amount of war material produced by forced labour by industry in support of the German war effort I do not think "sabotage" happened all that often as the workers from occupied countries just wanted to live and get that chunk of bread and a daily bowl of watery soup. I would lean more towards over worked in appalling conditions, fatigue, hunger and illness for work errors. Consider if getting caught doing sabotage result in a instant death penalty, sure it must of happened but not on any great level and certainly nothing that would change the course of the war.

Hey Mr. Dynamite that is a cool looking relic and would make a fine piece of "yard art" after a good pressure washing then spray with oil. Do you have a link to further pics or the story ?
