Any information on old Weaver K4-1?

Picked up a fixed 4x?? Weaver marked K4-1 today. Paid $20. Has a German-style vertical post with a fine horizontal crosshair.

What, if any, good is this scope? Can it be rebuilt? Should I just throw it on a rifle and see how it goes? Figured it was worth the $20, at least.

Mount it on something, then use yer bore sighter gizmo and see if it tracks?
Got one gifted to me at the Salmon Arm show.
Put it awn me 99 250-3000.
This be a fine X'airs.

Good old scopes iff'in yer eyes can tawllerate'im.

For $20, it seems hard to go very wrong.

The German Post/crosshair reticle isn't my fave, but I have a rifle with one on it, and it's easy enough to use.

The K4 Weavers have a pretty good rep in general. If it's not broken, and you can see through it at all, seems like a pretty good buy!

The early Weavers were slightly better than looking through a Coke bottle but built fairly solid.

I have found the Weaver post to be a very fast reticle to use. I would prefer a 3X post scope for deer hunting.
