I recently purchased a brand new DD MK12 and noticed an odd spot on the end of the barrel.

Is this something I should be concerned with?

If you actually shoot your DD MK12 it will get more spots and wear, so best mentally prepare for that now, if that small blemish alarms you.

No man you should be seriously concerned about that severe impact mark. Your barrel could actually implode on itself.

looks like a chip or nick on the coating, exposing bare metal. Probably caused by mishandling.

It will most likely rust one day, reddish brown appearance.

Nothing to worry about if you like using your tool more than looking at it

I won't worry. It is a 416 SS should even if the finish is off, it is not going to rust instantly.

It could also be an aluminum rub mark if they use an aluminium barrel fixture, like the military does.

Thanks. I didn’t know it was a ding. I thought it was a defect from factory. Dings don’t concern me. They are signs the rifle is used and I plan to incur many more on all my rifles in the years to come.
