How many rounds can I put though a new handgun barrel?

live round with a primer popped a bullet into the barrel, later a blank was fired that pushed the bullet out of the barrel and into Brandon. The prop guy on set apparently made his own dummy rounds by pulling pullets, dumping powder and putting the bullets back in, leaving live primers in the case.

Help me out here.

"How Brandon Lee died
Have you seen The Crow? Did you know that Brandon Lee was accidently shot to death during shooting of the movie? I knew this, but I was curious about the circumstances, until I found this text. Copyright to The Internet Movie Database Team, 1990-1995.
Brandon Lee died during a mishap on the set. A scene required a gun to be loaded, cocked, and then pointed at the camera. Because of the close-range of the shot, the bullets loaded had real brass caps, but no powder. After the cut, the propsmaster (not the armsmaster - he had left the set for the day) dry-fired the gun to get the #### off, knocking an empty cartridge into the barrel of the gun.

The next scene to be filmed involving that gun was the rape of Shelly. The gun was loaded with blanks (which usually contain double or triple the powder of a normal bullet to make a loud noise). Lee entered the set carrying a bag of groceries containing an explosive blood pack. The script called for Funboy ('Michael Masden' (QV)) to shoot Eric Draven (Lee) as he entered the room, triggering the blood pack. The cartridge that was stuck in the barrel was blasted at Lee through the bag he was carrying, killing him. The footage of his death was destroyed without being developed. Lee is the son of martial arts legend Bruce Lee, who died in mysterious circumstances while making Game of Death (1979)."

The armsmaster left the set for the day? Always the best thing to do when arms are present on the set with high priced celebrities being shot at.

A double or triple powder charge triggers the explosive blood pack?

Try again on all of the bs.

A lot has changed since then with regards to safety on movie sets. Note that the armsmaster didn't inspect the bore before loading a blank round.

Poor wording (in fact, the whole thing is just terribly written). The blood pack was to be triggered separately when Madsen fired the gun. Blood packs are usually operated either by the actor or by remote control.

I wonder just how someone could fire more than one or two without noticing something wrong.

Last month the fellow beside me on the range asked me to test his new 38 Spl. revolver for accuracy. He had just bought it and it came with a box of ammo (reloads).

I shot 6 rounds. I was shooting at his used target and could not see my new holes. The sound was about right, but recoil was quite soft.

He took it back from me and started shooting, but suddenly the cylinder would not turn and would not open.

He gave it to a gunsmith. He later returned it. The barrel was full of stuck bullets.

My guess is that one round was a squib and the subsequent rounds had the 3.0 gr of 231, as noted. The sound and feel of the good rounds was about right.
