x bolt stainless stalker in 270 Winchester. zeiss terra 3-9x40 firing 130 gr nosler accubonds. pretty nice rifle

if it rains or snows that day a rem 700 xcr2 in 30-06. bushnell elite 3500 3-9x40 firing 165 gr nosler ballistic tips.

its currently muzzleloader season for 2 more weeks so a tc omega with a Nikon 3-9x40 inline xr scope firing 250 gr sst. called in a coyote while on the deer stand and shot him at 30 yards with this wonderful muzzleloader last Wednesday. on my wrong side left handed awkward behind the tree, good times I tell ya. call was a quiet close range coaxer. I was just checking if there was anything close by down the ravine. I doubt they could hear that call past 200 yards on a flat calm day maybe 250.

The .30-30 might get the most time afield; I haven't killed anything with that rifle yet, and it's about time.

Im still undecided there's my Browning 30-06 thats never failed me and my 338wm sako. Both are proven and always put meat in the freezer. Used the 338 all last season and it definitely wasn't overkill on the deer I shot... can't say that was the case for the coyote that crossed my path... that was gruesome
 
For the shotgun hunt : a older Rem.870 Wingmaster with a Hastings rifled barrel & a Red Dot scope
sighted for 100 yds. .
For the rifle hunt : a Winchester M-64 ( made 1950) in .32 Sp. , sitted for 100 yds. & a pre- 81 Browning BLR in
.243 sighted for 200 yds.
 
Something in a Bubba'd milsurp flavor no doubt. 8 x 57 K98 under Kahles glass, Ross in 303, perhaps a 30-40 Krag Jorgensen at carbine length ( it's smoothest and the best natural pointing IMO ) are the top 3 in the running at the moment.
The 30-40 is like a chubby GF, she isn't the Belle of the ball...but strangely satisfying nonetheless.
 
im unsure at the moment what i will use for deer in NZ, i have a chance to come home an potentially export my kimber montana 7-08 over with me, which is most likely going to be the case, however i did throw in a zeiss 3-9x scope incase i am too fund a 2nd hand rifle!
if it were to happen tomorow, id be purchasing a mossberg patriot in most likely .243 winchester at this stage- expecting to pay $2 a round an hoping not to use too many :)

hunting is year round an depending where ya are a the time, i dont see much hunting in the first few months until january or feb next year for me
 
Started out with my custom Winchester Model 88 in 338 Federal, with a Leupold VX-3 1.75-6 and Federal Premium 210 gr Nosler Partitions. Took a nice caribou bull with it!
Been using the Remington 1100 Sporting 28 on ruffies, spruce hens and sharptails. Sucha fun gun!
Need to take out my new to me Marlin 336ER in 356 Win with a Leupold VX-2 2-7x33 and factory Winchester 200 gr PowerPoints and ensure it is sighted in for the remainder of hunting season. Back up will be the Winchester Model 88 in 284 Win with Leupold VX-3 3.5-10-x40 and Winchester 150 gr PowerPoints.
For wolves, coyotes and lynx, it will be the Remington 700 Classic in 221 Fireballwith a Leupold VX-L 4.5-14x50 B&C and Nosler 40 gr FBHP's.
The wife was carrying her Steyr 7mm-08 with Leupold VX-3 2.5-8x36 B&C with handloaded 140 gr Sierra ProHunters in the early season, and will be carrying her Ruger No. 1 250 Savage with Leupold VX-3 2.5-8x36 and Remington 100 gr CoreLokts for the remainder of the season for deer.
 
Was out to the range yesterday, to help a buddy's daughter get her .308 zeroed with reduced loads for their hunt this morning. At the same time my No.1-A .303 Brit and No.1-A Whelen as well as the walnut/blued M77 MKII 6.5X55 and 7X57 and M77 MKII synthetic/stainless .308 and .350 Rem Mag were zeroed and ready to roll for the deer hunt.
 
Taking a Kreighoff Classic SXS in 30R Blaser as the main gun, and a CZ Ringneck 20ga for birds. And a Merkel K1 in 7mmRM as a backup spare.
I used a Fabarm Classis SXS 12 ga for the ducks and geese this year, took a Beretta A300 as the backup spare for that.

I brought my traditions buckstalker for opening day. Planned to be out the entire day and shot a beautiful 10point whitetail at 15 yards. 270gr platinum powerbelt over 2 777 pellets thru the spine at the base of the neck. Hunt was over at 712am. Its the least accurate gun i have but my top 5 whitetails have fallen to it. Now i have only an archery tag left. More time for waterfowl
