Awesome

Excuse a total noob question. Is it as simple as putting an 18.6" barrel on a rifle, previously classified as restricted to make it non restricted? How does this work?

I made sure to buy one of the Carbine rifles that came in registered as a rifle. Then I sent it to Herron Arms, and he made me a new barrel, and had it verified as non restricted length.

Missing quite a few, Kriss vector, scorpion , PS90, MPX, B&T9 and Famae SAF to complete my collection. Got sidetracked and bought a couple more AR&optics (Hk MR223, DD) Should have everything by next year :)

I'm scrolling through this thread and every single gun I see that looks awesome, is restricted. Very frustrating.

My advice: enjoy it while you can!

Yes we CGNers would all like to live in a freer society when in comes to firearms regulations, but lets be realistic for a minute. In my opinion we are currently experiencing a golden age of restricted and non-restricted firearms in Canada. It is likely that laws will only become more restrictive some time in the not too distance future. Right now, all it takes is an RPAL and enough $$$ and you could own and shoot some incredibly cool guns, such as these amazing examples posted by Bartok5 :

This one especially, has me looking around the house figuring out what I could sell to buy this $2500+ range toy:

I though of doing the same with my MPX, but wonder if I can fit the revers faux suppressor that is done on the CZ Scorpions

I'm not sure why you couldn't. It would just be a matter of having the proper muzzle device thread, and then using the proper length hand guard that allows the faux suppressor to fit.

The problem, as you know, is that the govt knows about every restricted that I have. If they decide that it no longer pleases the crown to allow me to own them, I can't say "what guns?". Obviously, I'd love to fondle and shoot these cool guns, but more than anything, I'd like the assurance that nobody will be able to take them away from me (or my great grandchildren).

I'd rather have a longer barreled NR PCC then a short stubby restricted thing. My PCC's are very much used in a utility role

The more people who have them, the harder it will be to try to take them away. I'm doing my part, are you?
I've already detailed (and got yelled at for it) how the govt/rcmp could coerce/compel restricted owners to turn in their guns. I see only two ways to prevent this:
1. Gun owners having enough political clout so that no political party dares to even suggest taking them away.
2. Owning firearms that the govt doesn't know about.

I just agreed to purchase another restricted from a CGN member. Does that help the cause?
