Heckler & Koch MR223A3 question

Transfer came through today and I brought it home. This is a damn nice Carbine!! Seems to be brand new basically. Super happy it ended up being the A3 not the A1. Fit and Finish is impeccable and I really like the Drum/Diopter rear sight.

I tried to post pics but it did not seem to work, I am not the greatest with that kind of thing. I will try again when I have a friend over who knows how to do this kind of thing better than I do.

On a side note does anyone know where to source the HK rail covers?
You will be fine, the European standard of 223 can handle 5.56.

While they are accurate with ball ammo. Whats the most accurate load out of these? 75gr? How does it shoot the 69 grain swiss match?

Ok. Hk mr223a3 against the cc mrr? One seems like the more practical option since i have the parts to complete it. The Hk mr223a3 seems just so perfect though...

My 14.5" MR223A3 with the Geissele HK Trigger and Free-Float Rail is the most inherently accurate 5.56mm carbine in my stable. It outshoots my CC SA15.7, Swissarms PE90, B+T APC223 and G36E to name but a few. The A3s are fantastic carbines in every regard other than weight, which is the price you pay for piston-driven reliability.

Is it worth it to swap out the factory A2 style bird cage out for the Surefire Warcomp? They are not cheap. What about HK Rail Covers? Are they available anywhere in Canada?

Ojly you can determine which muzzle device is best for you. I stuck with the factory HK Birdcage. As for the Rail Covers, I am not aware of any Canadian sources. HKParts.net is your (over-priced) US friend for HK bits and pieces, imported with the assistance of a 3rd Party Importation Service. Genuine German HK Parts become very pricey by the time they are landed!

Depends on the look you want. They don’t make warcomp just 3pong in M15X1. I’m waiting for mine, they go for about 250 if you are lucky enough to find them because American doesn’t use European threading because even European rifle use 1/2x28 and Canadian rarely use it as well, so good luck. Not sure, do you want actual rail cover or like HK rail ? I picked up an HKey rail from GREENTIP, and I haven’t seen them anywhere, because is so proprietary .

I think B&T makes a great warden style reduction device. I have the Surefire system but B&T males some cool looking stuff and it works. Swiss engineering

Seems like they do make the Warcomp with M15x1 thread for HK's. I was just wanting rail covers, Mine came with the Quad Rail and they are SHARP!! I will probably end up going with the rubber DD ones if I cannot find the HK ones for the same price.

Thanks alot for the all the replies guys, big help.

Is the Geissele HK SMR Mlok?
I have a SMR coming to me, will upgrade the trigger later.

No, the HK SMR is not MLOK - it uses their own rail sections that mount with screws into the rail, which have threadserts pressed in. Arguably, that form of mounting a rail will be significantly stronger than MLOK, simply due to design.

Ditto. I have a b&t brake and blast deflector on my apc223 sbr. Will be duplicating for my mr223 is it’s 15x1mm thread and bears a striking resemblance to the surefire brake.

That similarity is largely due to Surefire, somewhere along the way copying the mounting method from B&T. I've got one of B&Ts M15x1 flash hiders, it would be a great addition to an HK if not using a brake.

I see. Was hoping to use my Mlok stuff. I probably wont need anymore rail then what is provided, but in case if I do, guess I’ll have to buy more Geissele rails.

Arm&Gun, thought you got a MR308. Picked up a 223 as well?

What is everyone keeping on hand for spare parts? I saw Greentips mention in the other thread that he only keeps gas rings.

This is what I was told what Canadian dealer can get. I believe they only make warcomp for 7.62. Not for the M15X1

Anyone have any experience with the b&t 2 chamber compensator on the mr223a3?

Also does the a3 have the vented gas block?
