Hunting pics Modern Hunter / Varmint / Sporter.

Good looking rifles guys.

I've been thinking of buying one myself. The one thing that's holding me back is in Alberta you can't hunt big game with a .22 cal round. I live in MB now, but will be moving back next year.

2 of the 3 deer killed were shot with 6.5 Grendel as 223 is not legal in Alberta as you are aware. This is the first critter I have shot with this cartridge and I gotta say it just continues to impress the hill out of me. We have been playing with it out to 660 yards and no issues make the steel swing. Robyn has been using this rifle for the last 2 years in PRS matches and has not had any issues keeping up. We sortof figured 330 yards was pushing the envelope but I am now thinking 400 to 450 under ideal conditions would still make for an ethical kill. Watching hers go down bang flop and then mine doing the same frankly surprised me a bit as I am used to 300 Win Mag and larger for hunting.

Get one in 6.5 or better yet 25cal.

Sorry, not convinced that 25 cal is better than the 6.5 especially in this configuration. The reason being the 25/45 Sharps is not mainstream , yet. Interesting concept but still limited in projectile weights and B.C.s
I plan to try the 6.5 Grendel with heavier bullets this summer just to see what comes of it.

Fixed the link for you

Thanks! Not sure why it won’t let me post pics like I usually do.

I was being a little facetious with my comment about the 25/45 being better than the 6.5 grendel...The grendel has better bullet selection, better BC, and more coal can be stuffed behind the bullet.
The 25 cal is only better in my eyes cause it's an odd duck, and takes standard AR mags. It will kill deer size game....just not as far as a grendel will. I prefer to get closer to my game rather than snipe them
from long range.
My only point is there is no reason to hold out getting a MV because of the 22cal rule in Alberta...Just get a bigger cal. Like the old saying..."Once you've gone black....you'll never go back" :)

Dude 300 yards out here IS close range!! I was hoping to let my 300 Norma do some speaking but the friggin deer would not co-operate and stay our there at 800 or 900 yards. It broke my heart that I had to borrow the little ladies gun because the deer were too close.;)

Another successful weekend for the ATRS team. We got out early Saturday and filled the last of the tags. The ATRS deathgrip made it's first appearance out hunting with us, and gotta say... it's not just a novelty for the PRS guys! That thing is stable!

which lead to Rick taking this doe with a 6.5 Grendel, using Hornady Black 123gr SST. Much closer in, around a hundred yards.

Hey Rick what scope you got on there? Leupold?

I’m putting a VX3I 4.5 14 LRP on my .223 rifle, but will eventually move it over to my 6.5 Grendel, when I get my second set.

I’m planning on shooting a big bull moose with it , next fall:)

The sock was washed before installation. I would never put a dirty sock on such a beautiful rifle but had not thought of the emergency toilet paper angle. Thanks!! You can still adjust the scope. I thought it was pretty clever but a dozen coyotes since then may disagree. The only downside to the MV is you wipe out the coyote population in an area and have to look for new hunting grounds. I'm having to look for new spots near Edmonton.

Sorry about the coyotes problem Bill.
Maybe we can start something new and provide buyers with "coyote seeds" so they can grow more. It may be a while though as I am still working on the "bacon seed" project.

Nicely done!! Sure illustrates how more magnification eats light transmission.

a few extra features happening there too though, the wide angle is a gopro attached to the scope tube with a handy little mount one of our guys whipped up. The zoomed in, is a canon EOS 70D with EF 70-200L F2.8. 2.8 is actually a wide aperature, but the gopro has always been very generous with light and exposure. I could have increased the brightness of the zoomed in a bit post production, but at the time, my messing around with the camera's caused 5 of the 6 deer to take off. Figured shooting into a blank hillside with perfect exposure was a bad order for priorities.
