Anyone have one of these yet>>?? Tavor upgrades!

Why would anyone want a 300 bulk or whisper or the likes, unless you ran a suppressor, that's what they were designed for, unless you like expensive poor performance ammo, by all means...get excited.

It's too bad you know nothing about the round yet still feel inclined to comment on how poor of a round it is unless you're using a suppressor.
What performance criteria do you judge your ammo by? What is it about the 300BLK that you find poor?
You realize that some people do more with their rifles than punch holes in paper at a range right? Maybe a different cartridge is better suited to their off range needs? Maybe some guys just don't care if it costs a little more and just want something different? 223/5.56 is pretty much useless for anything other than varmint and predator hunting and I can easily do those things with a 300BLK if I wanted to.

I've owned 4 rifles chambered in 300BLK over the last few years. Every one of them could shoot sub MOA with handloads including my 10 and 12 inch AR's, and all have been 100% reliable. I can load/shoot rounds from 90 grains all the way through 220 grains and can run supersonic and subsonic loads as well.
Just because the cartridge can function subsonic and suppressed in an AR doesn't mean that was what it was designed for. I believe it was designed to be an extremely versatile cartridge that could be swapped into an AR platform with nothing more than a barrel swap and it has definitely lived up to that.

No, it's not a high power long range round but if that's what you want then you want something in an AR-10 platform.
It's not the best hunting round but then again neither are any of these new super cartridges that have been coming out recently for rifles sized to 223/5.56. Look at the 6.5 Grendel for instance, I use this one as an example because it seems to be the latest greatest cartridge everyone wants to chamber their non restricted build in so they can hunt with it. Well the Grendel is not a good hunting round in my opinion, it has great long range target performance due to the extremely efficient 6.5 bullets available but it still lacks velocity and without velocity you don't have energy which means that no matter how awesome people think it is the cartridge is still not well suited to hunting big game, especially as the distance to target increases and also because there really aren't any good bullet choices in 6.5mm that are designed to expand properly at lower velocities, there are however more and more 30 cal projectiles becoming available that are designed specifically for the 300BLK which will ensure the most energy transfer to target even at the lower velocities.
I wouldn't shoot at a deer beyond 150 yards with my 300BLK rifles and if I had a 6.5 Grendel I would limit my hunting to 200 yards or less. Yes the 6.5G outperforms the 300BLk in most area's but it's not by much and there are still advantages to the 300BLK over the 6.5G depending what you want to do with it. Just like everything, there's always a compromise to be made.

Lotta wind coming outta you guys, writing novels about how its barely acceptable to use in a non-subsonic application without suppression.
Wow, subMOA with hand loads, sooo impressive,
It's like bragging about how you are gonna sup up your moms 1995 Honda Civic... might as well just run 30-30 cartridge.
With so many calibers out there, guys are just going with it because name sounds cool, way better choices in pretty much any application... other than suppressed room clearing, because that's what it was designed for.

Hihi962, I defer now and forever to your irrefutable ammunition expertise. You are my new hero. I wish I could be cool just like you, spewing your brilliance all over the internet for everyone to see and revere. I especially admire how you interject your unwelcome views into other people's discussions. You sure show them! You should give lessons on internet etiquette. Really.

Thanks for your response, this is why I come on this forum to learn from others experience and knowledge.

The 300BLK conversion would be an amazing upgrade for the Tavor! I just wish it could be done with a NR barrel.

Is it possible to convert a Tavor to 300BLK with a 18.5 NR barrel? It would be nice if IWI would do a run of 18.6 Barrels for the canadian market.
