Best way to remove burn ring on blued revolver?

Define "burn ring". All my revolvers are blued (well... all except for one), I don't follow what you mean by burn ring.

I’ve used everything known to man to get rid of the “ring” especially on stainless revolvers. I have learned to live with the ring and am much happier now. Be very very careful with lead away cloth on a blue revolver. They now get a light scrub with a brass brush and Ballistol. Life is so much better now.

The ring of burnt carbon deposit that forms around the chamber mouths of the cylinder would be my assumption.

What Can-down said.

Hmmm, I kind of like that look on my 686. Adds to the character. As long as it doesn't interfere with function, I'm ok with it. Kinda makes it hard to sell a revolver as "un-fired" or low round count though....lol.

I hated that look on my 686.

So I sold it and got a 586.

Problem solved!

Lead Away cloth can remove bluing.

Anything that does not come off with cleaning solvent and a good scrubbing with a bronze brush does not need to come off that badly.

Buy a curly-que brush. Its made specifically to remove the burn ring in revolver cylinders.
Its not really a brush per se, but its a twisted closed wire spiral jag. Bass Pro has them I think.
The key to minimizing this ring is to always employ the advice the great Roy Campbell told me years ago: "Always be cleaning!"

Guys I have had Ruger stainless revolvers for almost 30 years. I used to use the Lead Away cloth that worked well. A couple years ago I read on here about using cyrama bright. It's the cleaning cream they sell for glass topped stoves. Works as good as lead away if not better and is way easier to find. And it's pretty cheap
