A buddy sent me these pics. He took a shot at a dear, head on, 25 yards, down hill from him. Figured if anything he aimed a bit low. Deer took off. Where it stood he found a few white coarse hairs. No blood. Searched the area and found a little blood about 20 yards away. Followed the blood for another fifty yards or so, zig zagging, a drop or 2 every 5 or so yards. It went over a rocky area, then they found this. No other blood. That was the end of the blood trail. They searched a couple of hours, and found no nor blood. Went back for lunch then came back and kept searching till nearly dark. Didn’t find another drop. There were ravens around that wouldn’t leave the area. Is it possible for a deer to puke up it’s own stomach? Or is this more likely just a raven that dragged it there from an unrelated guy pile, and they just got the paths crossed?

stomach pieces from the inside.

I googled deer tripe and found this: https://goo.gl/images/TTod6a

Looks like the winner.

Ok then... so... best question... can a deer vomit out it’s own stomach? If it did, would there not be vomit everywhere too? Or did I coyote or crow just leave this here?...

I guess I’d better tell the whole story...

What was the temperature of the flesh? If it was from his deer I imagine it would still be warm, depending on how quickly he started following the trail.

Weird how the blood trail ended where he found this. Weird coincidence?
