Hello guys!
I'm pretty new to guns and I want to buy my first 9mm with option of future participation in IPSC contests. Tenda has Shadow1 Australia for 850$ shipped now. Is Australia version any different than regular Shadow 1 except for the way it looks like? Would I be still able to use it in IPSC?
Thank You!

If the description of the website is true, there’s some tuning that’s been done to them. Australian handguns also have longer barrels, as evidenced by the end of the barrel protruding past the end of the slide.

its all about marketing the Aussie models were more money when they first became available some people didn't like the look of the longer barrel . My two tone Aussie retailed for $1050 when they first came out I got mine for $900 last year . Both are great guns the Aussie model came with some fine tuning and fitting from the factory .

See if you can get range time with a Shadow and a Shadow 2, shoot both of you have the option. They both feel quite different in your hand, but both perform extremely well in competition. Not sure what your budget is - if it’s sub $1000 you can’t go wrong with any of the above. If you can afford the S2, go with whatever fits your hand best.

Best to just buy a Shadow 2, same length of barrel as the Shadow Australian, but with many upgraded features

I'm going to buy Shadow 1, it's hard to convince my wife that I want to spend 850$, 1200$ is too much for now :p

Well...... here's the thing. As a Shadow 1 owner I can back up Slavex's point.

When you learn how to grip the pistol properly, there is a REAL strong chance you'll find the stock safety gets in the way. So add about $130 for flush safeties, plus paying for installation if you have to. The stock rubber grip sucks for many people, so there is another $100 to buy something else. So your $850 is now at $1080, plus shipping on those parts. Add on at least a 13# mainspring, (few more bucks). From there, it's hard to ignore the Shadow 2. Esp given this time of year with sales.

Earlier this fall, the Aussie model was $20 more than the regular one.

I ordered the Aussi because I found the 1/4" barrel protruding gave it a caracter, just my opinion. But the CFO took 1 MONTH to approve the sale, when they finally did, the shop called me, they had made a mistake and the gun registered to me was a regular model.
I was given the option to get the regular gun shipped now, or to wait another month to get it corrected with an Aussie version at the CFO.
I was pissed off, I chose to get the regular one shipped right away and got the $20 refund.

I don't regret it now, it's a great gun, and contrary to Jimbo14, I find the stock grips really good.

I sure hope it's approved or I might have to give back all the trophies I've won with my Shadow 2 over the last couple years......

Is there a difference in grip circumference between Shadow 1 and Shadow 2?

S1 can be made quite a bit slimmer with thin aluminium or G10 grips. Good for small to medium paws. I would try both S1 and S2 and see which fits better - everyone's hands are different.

A beginner might not be able to take a full advantage of the improved S2 guts. The $$$ difference between S1 and S2 roughly translates into 2000 rounds of ammo or a dedicated .22LR upper = more trigger time either way. Or a couple of courses.

Seen any sale on the shadow 2? I was on the fence but given the right price...
