Hi all,

I’m wondering what people think of the surplus 8mm ammo captured by the Russians. I thought I had see a post on here a while ago regarding wildly varying power amounts in the casings. I just bought a K98 and I’m looking for something to put through her that won’t break the bank. (And I thought trying to keep 30-06 in the M1 was expensive until I seen 8mm prices)

I heard it was ok stuff, a little on the hot side but decent enough for plinking
I thought it was around a buck a round so not real cheap?
Probably best to buy some PPU or S&B and save your brass then get into reloading yourself

I have some of it...fires ok in my K98...didnt know it was a problem till I read on this site. Some people mentioned it might be a problem in older Mausers...with "small ring" recievers. I think K98s are newer than that...have "large ring".

A lot of that was made by slave Labour? I won't own rifles with dirty birds, why use intentionally sabotaged slave ammo.

Course lately it's ok to support business's that throw us under the bus, politicians that take their ball and go home, or b and moan about postie.

But then it's heart 2018 heart.

Avoid them if you can. These round we’re impossible to use in 2 of my 4 rifle in 8mm mauser. Repeated pierced primer in those 2 rifle. My K98k ate them pretty good, my mauser vergueiro had a few one where working the bolt handle got a bit difficult and the Other 2 rifle had pierced primer Every. Single. Round. All 4 rifle did not close on a no-go gauge

For everyone who actually wants to shoot it - why don't they send you a free sample of five to represent their good?

Exposed to liquid it was, and now them call it an collectors item. That's what it is, agreed!
