OK gents, what is your favorite subsonic round, and why?

I've been using the Remington stuff, and have been having problems in my 10/22, even though the action has been polished etc.

Would like to try some different stuff, but don't know what all is available that has at least some credibility.
 
I use the Rem as well...cycles most of the time in my cooey's and 100% reliable in my 10/22..upgrade the rod spring to one of the SSS units and she should cycle anything
 
I use cci cb longs

great cartrige for not attracting attention. Only complaint I can think of is that they're a bit of a dirty round.

It's not enough to polish whatever you polished. The angle of the bolt must be changed in order to #### the hammer easier.

I tried Elley, Aguila, Remington, ... and a few others I don't care to remember.
Remington is the cheapest...so it's a good contender.
SSS is the most powerful but has different needs.
CB's are the most quiet.

It all comes down to what your preferences are. and least we forget.... what your rifle likes. ;)
 
All target loads are subsonic, and those are the best choice. Accurate, and if you are lucky they will cycle well in your whatever semi-auto gun. Remington seems to make smaller cases, never measured them but they look dirty on sides from blow-by and foul the chamber pretty darn quick. Lapua target rounds followed by CCI standard velocity (my favourite).
 
The only subsonic ammo I ever shot is the Remington stuff, and I have to honestly say that although both my bolt and semi my rifles like it, evidenced by well above-average groups at 50M, I couldn't discern any appreciable reduction in report compared with standard vel ammo.
 
I managed to latch on to a quantity of the PMC Moderator 22LR Subsonic ammo. Terrific stuff! Accurate and quiet. Too bad no more is available. Regards, Eagleye.
 
I use Remington Subsonics in my 10/22 and they function great in it, more accurate than most other ammo I have tried and not a bad price either. I also have a few PMC Moderators left over from a few years ago, they seem pretty good as well not that it matters because once they are gone that's it.

That is one of the troubles with "subsonic" ammo.... some of them are not true subsonic, but rather transonic, so depending on the rifle......;)
 
I don't want to hi-jack this thread, so one or two quick replies should do it.
Simply... why sub-sonic?
Price wise, it is more than most bulk ammo. If you're indoors, you'll still need ear protection.
I can't see the need so have never bought it. Can you convince or convert me?:redface:

Why subsonic.... because they make far less noise. When hunting big game, a grouse can be taken without too much fuss.
Indoors.... again, if the round is truly subsonic, you will likely not need hearing protection..... depends on what indoor range you're talking about...some of them are arranged like concert halls, amplifying sound terribly .

Third but not last- I'm sure there are others.... a low velocity bullet destroys very little meat.... See Remigton Game getters....
