Her Majesty has given us some back pay. I need a pistol.

The HK has always been the one I lust after, but the other two offer more features for future use/upgrade. Rumours swirl of the SFP9 Optic Ready, but if/when that'll arrive here, no one really knows, not to mention price. I feel like the steady march of MRDS is inevitable and I wouldn't mind having that option from the factory.

SFP9 ~ $800

Pros
- It fits me well
- I've shot the P30 a fair bit and am a fan
- There are a few on EE for fair prices
- It's HK

Cons
- It's HK
- Not a ton of aftermarket options/support
- Expensive mags!
- Milling required if/when I choose to explore MRDS

509 Tactical ~ $1100

Pros
- Basically ready to go out of the box - a bit future proof

Cons
- Never shot one
- Most expensive among the group

G17 MOS ~ $1000 (imported)

Pros
- It's a Glock
- Also ready to go out of the box - mostly
- Aftermarket is nearly endless

Cons
- Not yet available, unless imported
- No suppressor height sights from factory
- Don't love Glock triggers (but haven't yet tried Gen 5)

Proverbial "gun to my head", I'm feeling the call of the 509 Tactical for what it offers out of the box. But it's also the brand I haven't shot at all.

I welcome your thoughts and collective wisdom, as always.

There is an optics ready sfp9-OR. But it’s unclear when it will be available in Canada, HK is slow.

Got the new g17 MOS and I could not be happier, cheap mags, best stock Glock trigger so far.
I run guns brings em in and bullseyelondon has a preorder for the gen5 g17 MOS

The FN looks sick, I wish it came in black or green never tried one though.

I think the FN looks sick; but I also wish it came in black too.

I was in the same situation as you are and could not decide between the FN 509 Tac, Glock 19X and Sig P320. I eliminated the Sig because I plan on getting a 226 in the distant future, but ordered both the FN and Glock about a week ago. I'll bring them both to the range and keep my favorite and put the other on the EE. I just couldn't make up my mind based on just videos and online reviews.

I have all 3.

Sfp9...meh. overhyped Glock with HK marking. Accuracy, so so. Typical HK quality, nothing to write home about.

Fn509T, cool gun really great to shoot, however no go fast parts. Accuracy, so so as well. It is hinder by the really heavy trigger, but once you get used to it. Accuracy jumps a bit and grouping can be shrunk.

Glock, tons of go fast parts, the "honda civic" of pistols. From piss poor OE barrel to holy shxt, diamond coated match barrel.

Out of all 3, i actually prefer the FN, great gun and the weight and ergo feels perfect for me.. haven't touched nor shot the other 2 for over a year. Actually i have not shot my glock at all. I bought the glock just so i can say i have it.

Thanks for the responses!

I see me leaning this way...especially considering I just realized the FN comes with night sights. That would bump the Glock to almost the same price, but they're not suppressor height.

Did you get it from a site sponsor? I only see Tenda as carrying it.

To be honest, for very superficial reasons. They just don't "do it" for me... I'll gladly admit 50% of my considerations are aesthetics and "cool" factor.

Thats allowed - its your money.

I've heard good things from good sources about the TP9's from Canik.

The only polymers I've shot as well/nearly as well as steel guns were the P320 (I was surprised too, I found the trigger horrible but it grouped well) and the SFP9. I wanted to buy it 'for my wife' but she preferred steel guns as well.

P320 didn't do it for me at all, even after a few boxes of ammo.

I just got my Trijicon RMR installed on mine. Beautiful gun. Haven't fired it yey though.

Nice!

My plan is to become proficient with the irons while I save up for the MRDS. Not sure I can bring myself to spend as much as the Trijicon though. The Vortexes seems like a solid bargain.

I bought a SFP9 a year ago after shooting the Glock 17 a lot that my range buddy owns. The trigger is much better than the glock and being able to customize the side grips along with the back strap was a huge seller for me since I have big hands. For the added expense over the 17 it was a no brainer for me.

That being said it would be far easier to get replacement and upgraded parts for a Glock than the HK, but I'm not worried about it. Keep in mind that the HK has the paddle system, but that literally took me 2-3 weeks to get used to it. And I actually think it's better than the button magazine release. I have put about 2000 rounds through it so far without one single issue.

My two cents

I appreciate the input! I too am a fan of paddles. Love the grips as well. As I said, I went with the 509 Tactical, but if money comes available for a second pistol, I think the HK will be it.
