I do have to remember the camera when we go to the range. I have meant to take it for the last for trips but keep forgetting.

It is a remington xr-100 in .223 I got a used scope from the good folks at p+d today. Couldnt afford to spend much today so the scope is a tasco 6-24x. Bipod is from my 10-22 which is a versapod. Everything else is stock. Played with the trigger last night and have it at its lightest setting. Man it feels good. I just hope the ol lady remembers to keep her finger off of it until she is ready to pull it. I keep yelling at her for it but once in awhile I catch her with it down.

The XR is a great platform. I have completely customized a couple of them, and I know at least a half dozen guys that have them customized into 6BR's.

I would urge you to get the gun bedded and have the action blueprinted. Almost no such thing as a Remington action that isn't ####-eyed to some extent from the factory.

Have fun!

If you want a fallback scope identical to that brand new I'll sell you one for $50.00. I just want it off my shelf. It's brand new from two previous that sh!t the bed on my. PM me if you're interested. That way when yours decides to shoot where it wants to you have another one while it's being replaced.

Where are you located?

What does something like that cost to have done?

Bedding runs from $50-$150 depending on who you get I suppose. Or you can do it yourself if your handy that way. Do some reading, there are tonnes of instructions on how to do it.
Trueing the action runs $150-$200 I think, I would have to ask my gunsmith about that but I believe he told me $150 (or rather I would save $150 if my action was one of the 1 in 100 that was already true) when I was getting a price on building an F-Class rifle.

good luck with THAT scope :puke:...i made the mistake of buying the exact same scope new. i mounted it on my SKS with a kalinka side mount scope mount...that POS wouldn`t group better than 4 inches at 100 yrds.
then i mounted it on my new ruger 204 "target" with the heavy 26" barrell.
at 200 yrds with a rifle stand thingy to hold absolute still the shots wandered about 1 1/2". (maybe because of no AO setting?)
its probably a good scope on a .22 but i won`t cheap out on scopes ever again. i know you say you are on a budget, but how fun is it to miss a gopher 75% of the time due to bad optics?

my ruger now has a bushnell elite 3200 4x12x40.

I was looking at the banner as I have one on my 10-22. I will be putting a better scope on it in the next little while. How soon depends on how well this one works for me.

Well shot about 100 rounds or so through the new rifle today. It worked great out to 300m. Even the scope worked well. Kind of hard to see out to 300 under full power because of the heat but did well anyways. One thing I found strange was sighting it in. I had mounted the scope myslef with my new bore site. Wasnt sure how well it would work so I shot my first 25 rounds at 25m. The first was low and right but on paper. Made my adjustment and was just above center. 2 more slight adjustment and I was bang on. Spent the next 15 rounds hitting the numbers in the around my dart board target. Man it was great. I had a target at 100 m but that side of the range was full so I had to go right to 200m. I figured I would have to aim alot higher but after a few shots relaized I was still centered. Weird I thought but I will take it. Then shot out to 300. Still centered. I thought I would have to make a bunch of adjusmtents between each lane/distance but it was all good. The wind was gusting towards us so that may have helped. I will find out next time I take it out.

The only crappy part was once again I forgot the camera.

You wanna know what really sucks? After I wrote this I got up and told the ol lady that I forgot the camera. She said she had brought it and had it out there but once we got there she forgot she had it. AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

HAHA.......friggin typical scenario. Kinda the same as taking my camera to the range one day but left all my CF cards at home :bangHead:

Here is one of mine in 6BR. It has a Gaillard 30" barrel, a Leupold 8.5-25X50. Farrel rings & base and a Jewell trigger.

Optics & trigger aside, the barrel, bedding, chambering and blueprinitng was just under a grand
