Dominion Outdoors Break-In

From what little information in the article I read its about 35ish handguns and at least a dozen Long Guns.

There were less than 40 guns total taken, mainly handguns. We want to thank everyone for your support and patience as we get back on our feet. We will do our best to answer phone calls, emails and messages here in the meantime.

Damn, That really sucks. I would hope the Police/RCMP (assuming the RCMP are involved) put forth full effort and catch the SOB's. I will continue to support you guys, if I can help in anyway just shout.

35-40 new handguns on the streets of the GTA will most definitely cost all of us. If stores can’t prevent this kind of thing from happening the antis have a point with banning all hand guns. That’s 40 new domestically sourced handguns that the stats will report.

I agree that its just more fuel for the fire. In this specific case they drove a vehicle through the front of the building. When I drove by this afternoon Global News had a vehicle parked out front setting up a camera.
Here is a link to a short article in from the local news. Just remove the space from ht tp.

So some of you think it’s the business that is at fault? Because they “allowed” this to happen. Criminals, and only criminals, are the problem here. How can a gun owner think that way? Sounds like the people who blame the gun in a murder. No wonder the antis will win. I shouldn’t have to lock my door since it’s against the law to enter my residence without permission. I do lock up because people break the laws willingly, and in Canada, without consequence. Hopefully they catch the people involved and recover the firearms.

Gun store security can never be over-fortified. It is a complacence of store owners that leads to break-ins, period!! Now, the stolen firearms end up on our streets and who pays the ultimate price? Yes, we, legal firearm owners, because gun crimes in Canada must be tackled by inventing more laws for law abiding gun owners, more banning, more restrictions....all awhile crooks reap the benefits and laugh their guts out...

I remember the days when my locall range/stor put alll the handguns in the vault every night, time consuming but safer. My local shop/range now only put rolll shutters on the display cases, and half the locks are broken and they leave them exposed. Just waiting to be stolen, I inormed the owner many times but all I hear is that it'll be fixed soon. A statistic waiting to happen, almost want to report it to the CFO.

If you guys are so hot to blame the store for getting broken in to, give your heads a shake and think about what's going to happen when we have central storage with all of our guns sitting there.

The gents at Dominion have enough krap ro deal with on this whole situation and don't need jerks piling on making it seem like they invited this and are trying to contribute to the Antigun agenda.

Well said and the only ones at fault of anything are the crooks which should be the focus of any break in or crime.

This disaster could have been prevented, just saw the pictures of the gaping wall gash. If only there were installed/deep concrete large metal beams (truck stoppers) in front of the windows the truck wouldn't be able to even reach the window/wall. This kind of preventable crap happening affects us all in a most negative way possible.
Thank you for the link Deaus.

If your home is broken into and your firearms are stolen, I guess we will blame you and not the criminals. I hope your home is secured like a bank vault or it's your fault, by the way bank vaults are breached and the items stolen as well. I guess you're the type of person that blames a women for being raped because she went out done up and wearing a short skirt.

I dont know how anyone could put any blame on a business that has been burglarized. No matter what idiots out there will try and steal property. I agree 100% with what you are saying.

Blaming the VICTIM !!?? The shop owner had all the security that the RCMP required before they got their license...the !@#holes that broke in are the BAD guys !!

Absolutely !

Firearms obtained by THEFT !

I agree it's not exactly fair to blame the business but we all have a responsibility to secure our firearms as best as we can. The sad truth is the more guns that are stolen either from stores or out of our houses the more some random cop can make the statement "We're seeing more and more domestically sourced firearms being used in crime." When the media asks exactly how much and they don't have genuine stats they make them up. "Ummm uhhh yeah, around 50% right now." Totally bogus but every media outlet reports those figures as hard proof that the legal sale and possession of firearms in Canada is feeding criminals their guns.

The anti's and media don't care that they're crooks performing unlawful acts to get them. They only care that they were legally brought in. That's what they'll want to justify changing.

I've noticed concrete piers placed in front of other firearm stores. Perhaps that should be a new requirement by the RCMP? I remember seeing a video of a car being driven into Al Simons Gun Shop in Hamilton Ontario as well. There may be justification for more stringent storage laws at our stores.

The argument against central storage by us is the same argument the Anti's use against Stores and legal sales altogether.

So the thieves used a stolen truck to break through the wall. So shouldn't the governments response now be to ban trucks? That way there are no trucks to be stolen and used to break into stores. Makes sense using their same logic.

To the people that are crying and saying that the business should have been tougher than fort knox... who pays for a firearm business to build itself up to be more secure than NORAD command? It costs allot of money to do even minor renovations. Retail sales is a very cut throat business with ever shrinking margins because of internet sales places that don't even have a store front! Are YOU going to step up and pay 25% more to a business because you like their storefront more? Get real! If your dimwitted enough to blame the victim in this, you're also too dimwitted to see the value of good service and will be the person that buys from the cheapest source period.

I'm not blaming the stores. I understand the challenges they face. With that said, putting all your handguns in a secured safe at the end of every night may take an extra hour labor in the morning and night. So yes, that's an added expense. Personally, I can't speak for anyone else but I'd be willing to pay 25% more for guns if it meant I will get to continue purchasing them. The anti-gun crowd would have a hard(er) time if we could claim there hasn't been a single handgun theft from a store XX years since we tightened store handgun storage regulations.... or building construction.

We're on a path right now to a full handgun ban as we speak!!! Doesn't that tell you anything. Not just that our government is failing to address crime but that the hidden anti gun agenda is winning. Things like this give them the fake justification they so crave.

It's not a fair playing ground.
