Who Does Salt Annealing?

I don't believe you need anything special as far as labeling. When I received my kit fron BR out west it came CP with an extra salt. Nothing special.

Mine's the opposite. I set it wide open and hope it keeps up for awhile. Awhile is a relative term; I can do 50-100 before the temp drops then find something else to do for a bit. Its not real surprising that the 50 dollar Lee melter is a bit variable, its all at temperatures higher than lead casting.
 
I will try Higginson’s thanks!!! Cabelas is a joke, i am closest to Regina store but they are sold out and they are back ordered on line with them, they have them in Winnipeg but will not transfer one or mail from there, that place is brutal..... i will gladly give someone else my money
 
I picked up a Lee melting pot locally and just ordered a kit from ballisticrecreations ..looking forward to trying it out. Thanks for posting this.
 
Man you guys like to spend my money... I was wondering if the bigger Lee pot (700 watt) would make more sense to run rather than the 500 watt 4lb pot. You would need more salt, but the temp recovery time would be quicker(pending on total volume used) and the volume of salt at set point would be larger to maintain temp. Does the throat size of the lee pots differ, or will the case holder fit both pots?

If your 700 watt pot is a bottom pour you are beat before you start. The mechanism will get in the way. If you have one of the larger dipper pots the BR case holder will go straight to the bottom. If you ran the pot half full you would burn your fingers down to smouldering nubs.

You could make your own case holder though, or adapt his to the larger pot. That would work.
 
I just finished using my new salt bath annealing kit on a couple hundred 308 cases and am very impressed. It was only about $215 shipped and is an easy, fast and accurate method.Glad I picked one up.
 
Just annealed a bunch of brass over the holidays using a salt bath it went pretty smooth and did a good job especially for under $200 other systems cost way more. Glad I saw this thread cause I never even heard about salt bath annealing before and was trying to justify the expense of one of the other much more expensive systems.

I just finished up annealing a pile of 416 Barrett brass with one of these kits. I'm very happy with how it is working out on a big and unusual case.

I believe it. Ive told many people about it, and several have bought the kits. The way that goes is they sort of sit on it for awhile, then I get a phone call saying that they've finally got around to it and can't believe how easy it is. Inevitably they start listing people they've also told about it. Its hard to believe its that easy; but its that easy. :)
