Maple Ridge Armoury AR10 Barrels. Shot targets added post #75 Nov 16th

I dont know the weight of the BCL102 barrel. The Maple Ridge Armoury AR10 SPR profile barrel with fluting weighs 2lbs 9oz.

What I can tell you is that our barrels are precision CNC machined, Match grade barrels machined from premium, Canadian made IBI blanks. The blanks are honed and hand lapped with 5R rifling. The honing controls bore dimensions down to 0.0001" tolerance for the length of the barrel and the 5R rifling and hand lapping increases velocity and accuracy.

The bcl 102 2nd gen barrel weighs 2lbs 11 oz.

I only own one STAG-10 so I will have to head out again with the Pencil barrel. I expect similar results for 5 round groups but I will shoot some strings to see how much I can heat up the barrel before groups open up.

The Pencil barrels have been tested for function and they run great! Both the SPR and Pencil barrels ran flawless with our standard Pincer Gas Block.

Looking forward to the pencil barrel test! Would love to shave 1lb off the stag factory barrel without losing too much accuracy after rapid firing

Are you ...or is your business capable of making a longer barrel???
Ya I understand that when the tooling is set up it’s production time .....
What is the time frame for a specific length ...twist rate ....
I emailed the business...but didn’t get a response

Any major difference between 4140 and 4150 steel?

Do your 308 barrels use standard length AR15 gas tubes, or the longer Armalite ones?

Based on our knowledge and experience, you will not notice any majour difference between 4140 and 4150.

These barrels use standard AR-15 tubes and function reliably without the need of an adjustable gas block.

We will be making longer barrels in 2019 but there is no firm timeline right now. These would be part of a regular production, we cannot accommodate special orders. We must make a business case for everything we do. In this way, the market dictates our every move. If there is enough interest for a given caliber, length, twist, etc then we can justify the cost and resources required to spin em up.

So what you are saying is that 6.5 Grendel barrels are next on your list.....

Thanks! How about the chamber? Does M118LR mean I can shoot both .308 and 7.62x51 fine? I think most .308 match barrels recommend only .308

Yes you can safely shoot both. We have shot a variety of 7.62x51 and 308 ammo through these with great results. See post #75 in this thread.

Awesome!

So when are you planning on putting the option to backorder on your website? It's been saying out of stock, which they obviously are, but that won't allow me the ability to secure one.

I've been a PITA bugging you for one long enough that I'd hate to miss out.

Thanks

They will be available for backorder once the blanks arrive and we know 100% we can deliver. I would hate to take people's money and not deliver in a timely manner.

Here are some groups shot recently with the MRA 5R Match Stainless 308 SPR barrel.

These barrels really like the 175gr projos. The Federal SMK 175gr really tight at just over 3/4" inch. Surprisingly good results from the surplus Hirtenberger 147gr. The 165gr Gameking grouping tight enough for a majority of hunting situations. Not sure if that flyer was me, the ammo, or the barrel. It was -3c degrees and my hands were frozen. I think in better conditions these groups would tighten up a bit.

All in all, I'm happy. I hope you all feel the same.

And.. International barrels initially told me no when I emailed asking for a barrel with the above specs.. :ninja: Glad to see you guys providing a barrel with true 308 military precision rifle specs. Thank you!

If you want to tighten those groups up give 175 smk with 43.4 of varget or 44 grains of varget a try. The Federal Gold 175 is a bit slow and with the 18.6" length you're likely just a bit slow to hit the optimum accuracy. The 20" version will likely correct that for off the shelf match ammo while still shooting the above formula like a laser.

Waiting for the 20" version SPR....
