Can you tell the difference?

One is Walnut and the other Birch.

Which is which? As the owner I would be hard pressed to tell which one is which.

It's hard to tell them apart. I think the bottom stock is walnut.

Top one is walnut with some curl in the grain. Bottom with almost no grain is birch.

After two pages most everyone was right.
Top is Walnut and is on a carbine.
The rifle was advertised as walnut but when registered came back as birch.
First time I cleaned the rifle the barrel could not be removed from the action.
Today a couple drops of Kroil and it came out with little effort.
That got me to thinking if both were being cleaned at the same time could they be accidentally (of purpose) be switched.
You were all a big help. The birch is quite plain and there is some curl to the walnut.
