Beretta 692 Sporting Black

LOL!

I was at a sporting clays shoot this summer and did pretty well, not top score but close enough to scare it. There was a young man catching and throwing his empty’s into the bucket at each station. Got a fairly good chuckle out of this even though he beat me, reality was he wasn’t that good.

See it at trap as well...

All of the top shooters catch their hulls in mid air so they need ejectors, all of the top shooters except me.... guess that's why I don't make any money at this.... :(

AA won $8 first place with over $300 entire fees no one is making money at sporting clays.

Some comps have been decent in payouts. It pays to win, which I don’t always agree with. I’ve been a big fan of gun sports having random prizes. Few do.

I sometimes shoot with a guy who catches his shells. It’s pretty flashy. I can’t do it! Then again I’d be focusing on what happens after shooting than what happens before or during. This individual has it dialed in pretty good though.

Reasoning behind likening extraction is:
1) it’s cleaner on the hands. Not a huge issue but my reloaded 700x can be a bit dirty.
2) it’s cleaner on the chamber.
3) I keep or retain most of my hulls so it’s nice and easy to inspect, etc.
4) The biggest reason is I like the way the guns feels opening and closing without the ejection and loading of the ejectors. It’s minimal but I’m fairly particular with these things.
5) It upsets some of my competition that I don’t run them as ejectors. So gives me an advantage. Haha

I don't catch my shells as they eject as per say but I learned many years ago to just cover the hulls with my right hand as I open the action to prevent them from being spit out, that way I can just pluck them out and put them in the pail without having to bend over to pick them up much like using extractors. Of course the exercise of bending over probably wouldn't hut me.

Is there a registered Sporting shoot in Alberta where HOA will cover your entry fee ? Very rare if at all.

Don’t think so. None that I have been to.

Would that bring more people out for competitions or get people into shooting?

Not at all, just replying to the “pays to win” comment. If you are shooting Sporting tournaments for the prizes, you are delusional.
If you can afford to shoot registered, the monetary value of prizes is meaningless.

Lower registration cost by dropping prizes and the lunch. That might bring more people out.

Sorry for the derail Gordonn.

I've had a 692 Sporting with the B-Fast stock for the past few years. Fantastic shotgun. This past weekend I was shooting with another fellow who just bought a 692 Sporting Black. It was his maiden voyage with that gun. Beautiful looking gun with the black receiver and the carbon fiber rib. Also, for some unknown reason, he thought that there was less felt recoil than with the regular 692 Sporting. I didn't shoot it, so can't say otherwise. Either way though, it was a very handsome gun.

I personally don’t care for the carbon fibre rib. I haven’t seen one yet on either Benellis or Berettas that hasn’t become loose. Some take a little longer than others but they work loose and are very difficult to tighten. Stick with steel,

Patrick

Likely just the appeal of real carbon fibre.

Falcon, Westward/Gordon was making the opposite arguement. Less or no prizes, possibly no lunches and far cheaper entry fees.

I can’t argue with that. I’d feel that would bring out more people too. I’m in that boat where I would shoot more competitions if prices were cheaper. I spent thousands last year going to shoots, not including the actual ammunition costs. That’s considering my winnings which were higher than most, but not necessarily needed.

It’s a pricey sport. Maybe it doesn’t need to be that pricy.

Maybe they are floating ribs.

The ones I've seen are not floating ribs but maybe it's an option not listed on Beretta's website.

Personally I couldn't care less about the carbon fiber rib one way or the other but what I don't like about the black edition is the matte finish. A lot of manufacturers are going the route of matte finishes because the steel doesn't require the same level of polishing to do a nice blue job so to me, matte finish says cheap but it costs more.... go figure!
