STAG 10 Weight reduction / now offering LEV2 uppers

I got to just under 8 lbs , with the only lightweight part being the barrel ( CA 20 inch CFW).

So , I was wondering what the extra cost for all those titanium parts ,add up to? Compared to regular weight parts.

My barrel would’ve cost about double the Faxon , or $500 more
Than.

I will admit, I have NOT used a CFW barrel.
I have seen some rigidity tests done, and per lb, they are better, but still more flex than steel.
So, can you fill us in on how many rounds before the grouping spreads? Also, what is the current accuracy of it?
I don't need much personally, 1.5 to 2 moa with retail Barnes TTSX 168 would be great.

You are right...
After the Faxon barrel, lighter handguard, lighter BCG, plus adjustable gas block, I am probably looking at the same price as a CFR barrel.

Mine feels like 12 lbs with the Nikon scope. I should weigh it this weekend.

Doesn't seem like much, but it's almost two of my bolt guns.

I usually shoot about 20, 5 rnd groups.
Fours groups on a target.
I shoot the four groups fairly fast, check target, the repeat.

I find that the groups stay consistent and the barrel do not heat up, after I finish with 100-120 rounds

I haven't received the parts but they are:

- Brownells titanium bcg , 12 oz (stag is 19 oz) one day sale $420 CDN shipped vs Stag $370 plus tax
- SLR adjustable gas block, 1.3 oz ( stag is about the same) one day sale $125 CDN shipped vs stag $30 ish
- Barrel is going to be either the Maple Ridge SPR fluted (2.5 lb) or the Faxon Heavy fluted (2.4 lb), both will be around $450 CDN. Stag factory 18.5" is about $350 plus tax. Either one shaves half a pound at the front without too much compromise on consistency. If you go with a pencil barrel you'll shave another half pound ( Maple Ridges pencil is only 1 lb 15 oz!)
- sticking with the factory buffer setup to start but might need to change out one of the components, we'll see how the adjustable gas block works with the bcg

I'll shoot some groups after installing everything and have the headspace checked.

This gives a 7.5 ~ 7.7 lb rifle without optics, spending about $300 ~ 400 more than stock parts to shave 1 pound.

I considered going with CFW barrels but only the BSF barrels are worth the weight savings (1lb) whereas Proof and Christensen are the same weight as the steel fluted barrels so.... Not worth it. I couldn't find enough reviews on the BSF to take that $1k risk though. If I went with a CFW barrel to shave that same 1 pound, it would've costed me $600 ~ $900 more than stock.

Went with the titanium bcg + fluted barrel combo instead.

I added a Vortex Viper 2-10x32 with flip up scope covers, Burris PEPPR quick release mount , ARMS 40 sights. Also added a Lantec Dragon Muzzle Brake. 3 MDI 5" rails with the quick disconnect cups, Aim Sport forend, OEM BCG, OEM trigger...which is actually quite good and a Quake Claw rifle sling MI quick disconnect cup tube clamp, Magpul MOE stock and a Hogue grip. It all weighs in at just under 11 lbs.

8.5lbs with the magpul bipod (~11oz) and BUIses :

20" faxon pencil (which I'll have cut to 18.6)
15" MI guard
Ti BCG
UBR Gen 2

Still on the wish/to buy list:
Ti Firing pin
Optics (not sure on which one yet)

Nice build tharkold. What’s the LOP with the fixed stock?

I’m not sure that the barrel is thick enough for new muzzle threads if you decide to cut it.

It's not a fixed stock ;) stock length is 8.5 to 11.5".

I know the barrel is small, will have to see if I have to thread using a .223 barrel pitch, but open up the hole for a .30 cal projectile.

If too much of a PITA to cut, i'll sell it and get a proper pencil 18.6" barrel.

Ooooo... i like this:

Incoming WTS ad for the faxon 20" pencil :)

Can you give us a review on the barrel? Do the shots open up a lot after a mag or two?

Haven't fired it yet.

Standby for what feels to me to be the dumbest question ever.

But nobody has clarified it yet. Are the forends for the stag interchangeable with AR-15 types, or are they larger?

I know the Stag has a .210 tang height. But I can't seem to see if that is the same as ARs. I have a Maple ridge armoury V1 forend in mind for the build, but not sure if it'd work on the Stag, Thanks for your patience, guys. Just finished my first SLR build. I'm definitely hooked, and want to try a Stag build too.

You need the X1 for the Stag. The V1 won’t work.

Sta 10 need the DPMS high handguards.
