So my youngest has applied for his minors licence and it's time for his own 12 ga for waterfowl. He really likes the BPS and looking at the new ones all we see are 3" chambers. When and why did they discontinue the 3.5" chamber?

If he likes a BPS make sure he shoulders one first to make sure it fits him
it is not one of the shotguns out there that fits a lot of people correctly. I sure know mine don't and if it wasn't that I collect shotguns i would not have any
They work well but are hard to remove the trigger to clean until you get someone to show you how to do it
Cheers

They seem to fit him fairly well. We had him shoulder the gun with his eyes closed repeatedly while wearing his winter coat and he's looking at the bead consistently

Me to ,Mac.LOL

LOL but that didnot keep me from stashing one NIB in 28ga and 410 LOL
I had the rest of the set but sold them. Now my 3 1/2 didnot kick bad at all compared to some 3 1/2 pumps I have shot
Me I agree with the Op and would hold out and get the 3 1/2
Wait now I am lying there is still a 16ga upland here which is some sweet with the english stock
I was not aware a 3 1/2 12ga was hard to find now
Cheers

He's 6'-1" at 15 yrs and if he's like his brother he has a few more inches to go. Out grown the youth models and is thinking long term that he would like the option of being able to chamber the magnums for geese.

Big boy and likely still growing hey. Well if it fits him well and it’s what he wants there’s no need listening to strangers on the internet. I’d imagine there’s a few for sale around in Ontario, or thegundealer if things aren’t panning out.

Sounds like sound advice to me.:)

The BPS is one the best built pumps on the market . It shouldn't be to hard to find a 3.5" model . The wood and synthetic stocks have different geomerty and fit differently . If the gun fits him good thats the one to buy .

I’ve got the 20 inch barrel, 3 1/2 chamber with the Tupperware stock. Does the job asked of it. I’m 5 ft 9 and find the stock all right

Cool. For me I find my arms are too short
Cheers

That is an issue with the BPS 20 Micro Midas I bought the gf as a gift. She’s 5’4” and the gun is the micro version and the short forend makes for too long of a stretch for her to be able to cycle the gun fully closed to make a follow up shot while mounted to her shoulder. Had I realized that could be an issue I’d have bought her a silver micro 20 instead. I’ll be upgrading to one for her come spring for heading to the skeet range to hone her wingshooting skills.

if it fits hard to beat i have long arms and well above 6.1 and one of the best shotgun fitting for me, will it be the wood or the synthetic stock. i need to try one with the english stock too.
