ATRS Modern Sporter - Nov 30th : New video, Post 482

I imagine it'll be the same as the design of their AT15, or pretty darn close.

Geeze... posting that picture just made me realize how much I'm going to miss the Sporter not having that ambi bolt release. The MV spoiled me. Darn people who wanted everything on the cheap.....

I'm going with the Phase 5, v2. Had it on pretty much all of my ARs in the past, no issues.

That "ambi" bolt release on the varmint required an awkward contortion of the hand to really reach, either way i am a committed adherent of the Valm Kilmer bolt release SMACK and am austere in my faith. Having done the same reload about 50k times though i am content with my speed, its all about practice.

I too really like the right side bolt release, it just seemed so natural. Trigger finger pushed mag release, new mag is inserted, trigger finger pushes bolt release and back to shooting you go. It would have been great if they could have worked in a bolt hold open to the system but this was a nice touch. I think my Varmint will still see more use than the Sporter, but 1 can never have too many guns.

people who are advocating for the side bolt release: Do you prefer it over something like a bad lever?
I run an ambi lower that has a bolt release in that position but honestly prefer the phase 5 bolt releases. I should mention that I am lefty so I am operating the release with my support hand thumb in a traditional fashion instead of my fire control band's index as a righty.

So when will you guys have complete rifles for sale off the shelf if a guy was to stop by your shop?

The Sporter is an upper and lower set only. You have to buy the rest of the parts and build it. Considering the second production run is almost sold out (won't be built until next summer), I don't think they'll have any sitting on the shelf any time soon.

I absolutely love the bad lever. Along with a aftermarket charging handle it is a must have upgrade to me

So I guess most of us are in agreement a Phase 5 or a BAD lever over an ambi bolt release on the lower.

Anywho, I'm in the second run, so have 8-9 months to get all the parts together.

How about the battle bar, I’m just not sure if they work with MS receiver.

The battle bar would need to be test fit. The manufacturer doesn't guarantee fitment on all receivers. In their install video they say it should fit all milspec lowers.. I'd definitely try one if I had one handy

I, for one, really like the Ambi bolt release on my BCL 102 and RA XCR-L.
My Travor 21 BR is different, however, with a little practice, it works well.

It's just me and my issue, but I don't like having extra stuff hanging around my trigger.

Not that I have any say, however; I would like ATRS to build an NR AR lower that similar to Radian Arms Lower.
To go along with their Raptor Charging Handle :)

I agree, I hate stuff hanging in the trigger guard and glady would pay extra for a integrated ambi bolt release (I am a righty and liked using it on my MH and MV with my RH index finger the same as you do with the mag release. The ACR and XCR platforms got this part of their ergos perfect.

Still might see about getting a few of these lowers I have milled for an ambi bolt release since the material is there.

That Radian lower looks great! The ascend armory ones looks great too! https://www.ascendarmory.com/products/ascend-armory-upper

Man I had a Modern Hunter and didn't even know it was an ambi bolt release until I listed it for sale lol...... clearly something I didn't need.

SO I'm a noob with slick side uppers, what small parts do I need for it? Dust cover and pin?

One big word with EVERY ambi bolt release system: Proprietary Parts.

The entire point of these receiver sets was so that people wouldn't be pigeonholed into using ONLY this piece, or ONLY that piece.

Fair enough, however as the entire upper and lower receivers are Proprietary, which gives us the NR status, I am assuming we are past that issue.
