What's a decent price to move the gen 1 type 97?
I want to buy a gen 2.
I like the rifle actually.
The rail will be the icing on the cake.
Are the Chinese auxiliary sights removable?
 
I think there’s a sponsor selling the gen 1 for around 750 New... tenda perhaps?

Its a shame you had a bad experience, but as with all Chinese built guns some are good and some are bad. The T97 I had never failed to fire and was great fun.

Tried one once, dude at range said do you want to try this, first trigger pull dumped the mag in a burst. He was like WTF I just got it back from having that fixed LOL That turned me off from bullpups and especially a Chinese one for a while

I get what your saying that not all are bad, but for me my very first experience was a bad one

Like my Type 97. Completely reliable, as accurate as anything else similar. You can buy an airsoft rail that will give you picatinny on a Type 1........
 
There was a couple guys at the range who had a type 97 and a tavor. They let me try them out and I am a lefty and while the tavor was a better, nicer built gun I could not shoot it due to me eating brass
The type 97 on the other hand I could shoot no problem. I'm not a big fan of the norinco stuff but I was pleasantly surprized at the T97
 
I handled one at Tenda a few months ago. I didn't know that a firearm could feel like it was made in China. The T97 proved me wrong. I guess Norinco has the Made In China stamp along with the Made In China quality down pat. Just awful. Shame we can't get an actual semi-auto civilian FAMAS.
 
I want to pick one up eventually, just for the collection. The one I borrowed from a pal at the range cycled fine. I want the LHG with the switch selector instead of that egg-timer dial by the buttpad. Also, I didn't appreciate the mag release putting up such a fight. I don't think I'd buy a gen 1 for $500 even...
 
I have seen them as low as $500 shipped. Most seem to ask around the $700 mark. I dont know if they are selling or sitting at that price. I have owned two 1st gens. They both were very hard on brass,...not good, I reload. The trigger was not bad on 1 of them, but the other was sooo mushy I had NO idea where it was gonna break. Accuracy was OK on both. 1 was finiky on Mags, the other was good. I think it is the luck of the draw with these rifles. I dont think I would get another. My AR 15 cycled way faster than the 97. my 2 cents LOL
