ATRS Modern Sporter - Nov 30th : New video, Post 482

You could always get it from McGowen. There is a 15% off right now. Buy a JP Bolt and Bolt carrier from Brownells. I'll PM you.

Our experience with McGowen barrels has been poor at best. Unless they have really picked up the quality recently there are FAR better options in my opinion for not much more $$. If you want to play the wildcat game, why not get a decent barrel?

That wouldn't work... 243 is too big for an AR-15. Plus the barrel extension threads are different.
I meant 6mm , I was thinking I could buy the AR 10 barrel, without the extension installed , then have the correct extension installed.

Anyway , just a thought.

Thanks

That would be a nightmare in the making. What are you trying to accomplish?
I was initially going with 6.5 Grendel with my second upper, but after reading up on 6 mm , I’ve changed my mind.

I could possibly get an AR 10 barrel, 6 mm minus the barrel extension.
But hey, I know nothing lol

I’d be interested in a barrel from you as well.

Why no CFW?

So far I've been happy with mine, but time will tell. The only thing I have been disappointed with is the gas block journal.

Considering cancelling my MDI order and holding out for one of these.. mmmm

At least you won't be disappointed with the Sporter. I cancelled my Crapabee and am glad I made the switch. My Sporter lower is WAAAAAAY better than what I have seen from Crapabee as far as quality of machinework and finish. AND ATRS delivered when they said they would rather than nearly a year of B.S. reasons why my Crapabee was not being delivered as promised.

I really don't see a problem here unless a guy needs a CFW barrel. Stainless barrels would be easy. We would need to order a reamer, no big deal Manson has made me many wildcat reamers in the past. We have barrel extensions and can supply JP bolts. I have a few of the Brownells bolts on order for personal use, but until I get some mileage on them can't comment on them. We KNOW from years of experience the JP bolt heads just don't fail.
The only part that could be difficult is having barrels made in under 4 months as we would need to order blanks and reamer.

I would be going with a jury barrel. May as well go with what I know works. I'm not sure he is back in the country yet but the last one was a quick turn around.

I wouldn't screw around trying to get a ar10 barrel. Just get a barrel blank. Then it will be done right with no screwing around.

I'd be in for a 6.5 grendel barrel as well. I already have the Brownells BCG combo for it. 18.6" fluted, non threaded, built in flash hider, mid length gas.

It would be great if one of our Canadian manufacturers came with 18.6 length barrel integrated flash hider.

I live on the west coast and used to live and work in Oregon, ie ORAGUN, so these guys are a nice drive south.

IF I was to invest in an high-end match barrel for my .223 or .308 I would like to have a brake installed in such a manner.
